don’t worry this one’s in stock
I feel like I should add a review saying don’t listen to people who say Roll for the Galaxy is better than Race for the Galaxy.
(The one review on the set with two buttons says that, for context.)
Roll for the galaxy is better than race for the galaxy.
Tighter. Feels more fair/less random. Maybe has a lower skill ceiling, but I’m not tryna play the same game 50 times
A couple of our asynchronous BGA games have ended. We can do more such games if anyone’s interested.
We should also pick a day to meet up and play Race for the Galaxy, so we can work toward our goal of playing it
Agricola?
Sure, I’d recommend asking that in the form of a poll to gauge interest. I’ve played that game twice, I think. It’s been many years but I seem to remember being underwhelmed by the game the first time using the basic deck but liking it a lot more the second time using the “interactive” deck.
Well bib and vod potioned
The revised edition has much better card balance.
@Infernarl
@wourme
@bib
@vodselbt
I’m starting one
I’m going to set it to draft.
Shall we start feast for Odin as well?
christ i’m already in over my head with 18xx i don’t think i can add something else new to the pile
BE ADVISED
I’m just doing the Agricola tutorial before making my first turn!
Anyone ever give this a try? Curious how much better the experience of playing games with this is compared to TTS, which is fairly bad and cumbersome in my experience.
Edit: oh I just saw that there is no steam workshop support. dead in the water.
Yeah, it uses mod.io. It actually has a tool to convert Tabletop Simulator mods into Tabletop Playgrounds mods, though I don’t think it can convert most scripting last I checked. But yeah, it doesn’t really have a large amount of support. Kind of a chicken and an egg situation in regards to player base vs mod library. There were some aspects of it that I found easier to use than TTS (like saving a deck of TCG cards in a saved decks menu or something to be used loaded when playing a main TCG mod), but I never messed with it too deeply.
I wonder what the calculus is between using Steam Workshop and a third party system like mod.io. There’s a new rhythm game I’ve been looking at that also uses mod.io, though in that case I’m sure they have to take legal considerations into account since people will just be trying to distribute copyrighted songs with their note charts.
Apparently the old old dune board game is playable online…
Would anyone play?
Tonight I got to play two board games that I’d been curious about for a while.
The Search for Lost Species
This is the "sequel" to The Search for Planet X. Both are logical deduction games that I feel like I'm not very good at but that I have fun playing regardless. My first impression is that Lost Species improves the Planet X formula in several ways. It also increases the complexity a little but at the same time the layout of the board makes it easier to follow.Space Station Phoenix
This game sure has a lot of pieces. You’re building a space station and populating it with aliens but to do so you must disassemble the spaceships they arrived in. And it’s those spaceships that allow you to take actions, so you’re limiting yourself further as you expand. Which sounds kind of annoying but it’s actually a lot of fun and I hope to play it again.
Space Station Phoenix is on Board Game Arena. Maybe it could be our next asynchronous game, if anyone is curious about it (or already familiar with it).
- Yes, let’s play Space Station Phoenix.
think @vodselbt would be interested. I can’t commit to another big game, am up to my neck in trains
my uncle is here for the holidays and he’s friends with the designer of space station phoenix so there’s a copy here. i kind of can’t believe how complicated it looks lol
