I’m sure you’ve noticed by now that there’s a company around by the name of Piko Interactive. They have a lot of games they’ve licensed and slapped onto various consoles, services and plug-and-plays.
Some highlights:
Glover
They’ve licensed the beloved(?) N64 3D platformer and made a slapdash port of it that has a lot of problems.
Barkley Hoops: Shut Up and Jam!
They took the classic(?) basketball game and replaced Charles Barkley with… Joe Hoops.
His face literally comes from the first Google Images result for “angry black man.”
Tyrannosaurus Tex
A first person shooter for Game Boy Color that’s way too ambitious for its own good that they acquired unfinished and decided to button up and release.
I avoid buying anything from Piko, they do some really shonky practices and do the bare minimum for their re-releases. Just emulate anything they put out.
They bought the rights to Nightshade (booo, give it to someone who cares (I like Nightshade)) and then bought the rights to an unfinished brawler (based on some movie) and are re-skinning and finishing it as Nightshade 2 which IS pretty funny.
There’s not even a slight amount of guilt to feel with emulating their stuff anyways, because no one who actually worked on the development team of any of the games they license sees a penny from the sale.
