does libble rabble count? you encircle enemies with squares to grow them. but i guess if i include this game every qix clone will rear its ugly head. nevermind, keep this square out of your circles

I would say Libble Rabble and Qix are… close enough! But not circles so maybe more of a related phenomenon.
I can’t believe I forgot to include perhaps the finest paraloop-focused game of all time, Michael Brough’s iOS game

Gomola Speed (1990) on the PC Engine. Very cool game with a very cool name that’s a little too finicky for me but I love it all the same.

At least one of these pins has an attack-animation that requires drawing a circle around noise/enemies to damage/defeat them, so that, like DEFINITELY counts because it is so GNARLY
