not only did I get the Trinitron I also snagged a promotional(?) LaserDisc for the line it’s part of for a mere ¥742 from a Yahoo! Auction via a friend in Kyoto
now I just have to wait for there to be a reasonable way to ship it given Japan Post are still not shipping to Canada

this just reminded me I bought a copy of the Sonic CD soundtrack six months ago to see if the lyrics booklet had definitive lyrics for “You Can Do Anything” and Japan Post never got it to me

there is so much luck in this object right now I am afraid to collapse the timelines and find out if it works
there’s a dinky looking TV spare parts store in Melbourne which lists two brand new remotes for this unit as in stock for $10
I don’t need anything more than the battery door, but a brand new remote is hard to walk past

speaking of luck both my old Apple display (a few hours ago) and guitar amp (a few weeks ago) plugged into the same wall outlet have suddenly + mysteriously died, recently
got absolutely drenched with rain collecting a power plug for the Trinitron lmao

me too lmao there was a moment when it was just giving a grey screen and I thought all hope was lost but then I guess the ageing capacitors warmed up and it started emitting that glorious shade of “no signal” blue

not sure what they’re waiting on at this point, I always thought it was very telling (and not even a bad way) that Japan Post to Vancouver was always quicker and more reliable than domestic Canadian mail
