*edit I misunderstood. the color shutter is full screen, so its the CRT’s phosphor you are seeing but there is still no need for any sort of offset colored phosphor dots or bars.
edit 2 for speculation.
Assuming the image is blanking 3 times per frame (r/g/b) I wonder if that means the horizontal refresh is 3x normal or 45 (ish) khz and how that impacts the perception of the screen.
There also may be lag introduced if a frame is stored to pull out the RGB data, assuming there isn’t some sort of simple analog solution. Also mustn’t the blanking interval between colors be shorter than the blanking between frames so your brain doesn’t mix them together?
