Welllll I think i’m done with Noita. I had an excellent run going with 2 really good wands that would have carried me through the entire game and, then, somehow, I teleported into my own blast. I didn’t have any teleportation spells or perks to accidentally trigger, there was no teleportitis around me, and I simply don’t know what happened. Dying this arbitrarily felt super duper bad, especially considering how cautious I’d been for the whole run.
It’s funny the first 50 times but I think having the specific goal of finishing the game properly has made the randomness far less fun. I’m familiar enough with the systems to avoid, say, 50-75% of the common pitfalls, and cautious enough to at least give myself enough breathing room to react to most of the rest. But then, one extremely stupid and unpredictable thing will just happen and I will instantaneously die with no recourse whatsoever and nothing that I could have done to prevent it (as far as I can tell).
So yeah I’m over it, but I got what I wanted to out of it! It’s a great game that I put about 23 hours into and I wouldn’t change that. I also read a bunch about it in the wiki and it’s absolutely fascinating but like, actually completing the ridiculous True Ending requirements is too much for me.

4-cast wand with 3 pollen + damage plus + luminous drill + always cast personal gravity field
augmented with a rapid fire missile wand and a 7-cast thunder charge, but i only used these for the damage sponge enemies that would run right through my empowered pollen
perks: item radar, small personal shield, projectile repulsion, exploding corpses+explosion immunity… can’t recall what else

on my run i had to kill the enraged god boss right before the final boss but personal gravity field is OP as fuck, most of the strong enemies once hit would not be able to return fire due to there being a gravity field surrounding them
feeling blessed and wanting to go for some other endings probably, at the very least i want to see some of the wilder stuff i’ve barely messed with. my enemy progress is still missing so much stuff!!

i instantly killed myself with pollen the first time i used it so i avoided it unless i could trigger it elsewhere, y’know? but it sounds like you played more cautiously than i would have
the personal shield + projectile repulsion is real good too
nice nice nice

pollen is one of the most broken spells in the game, because each pollen blocks a projectile, and they home in (and they dig through most materials that aren’t steel or bricks or very dense rock)
the simplest way to make pollen safe is to get the projectile repulsion perk, which makes it nearly impossible for any pollen to ever hit you - as soon as you get nearby, it floats farther away

It sounds like I just need to keep playing until I stumble into some world-beater of a combo and then try and cautiously ride it to at least the first ending.

Note to self: If a wand has Always Cast Electrical Explosion, you need the Cast at Distance modifier as well. Or electric immunity.

bouncing spells perk + luminous drill is absolutely amazing

welp, lost a good run because immunity to electricity does not grant immunity to thunder charge’s explosion at the center RIP lol

Yeah explosion immunity is better than I thought it was initially.
I also lost a good run to explosions last night as I was in the area after Base, I had a great wand loadout and was a little roughed up because Steve was somehow showing up for some reason, still things were going well until I got a little sloppy and tried to duck into a side passage, only to be right on top of two of those giant mines, even though I had like 90 health the next shot wiped me out.
I was really hoping this post was going to be the immediate follow-up of

i did find an incredibly good wand while exploring coal pits last night - it was a fast-ish multi-cast lance with always cast matter eater. turns out matter eater can go through nearly anything but not the extremely dense rock, so i couldn’t break through the edges of the map; probably need unlimited black holes or something for that. anyway i took it back to the surface by firing up a lot and made my way to the desert and pyramid to challenge the boss there. it did NOT go well lol, if you run away too far, the boss despawns. then i got oneshot by a flying maggot!

this is such a good video for covering “basic” strategies in the game, i have played for like 75 hours and still learned some new stuff
