That is something pigma would do tbf
I withdraw all my negative comments as i totally forgot about the SNES puppets somehow and these renders are in line with it, not so much in an unreal engine-gunmetal-grommet-ugly way. Some fan i am.
gotta wait till the game’s release to see if they really listened to the fans (all the characters legs are amputated)
The Mario Galaxy movie explicitly shows Fox’s humanlike metal legs. This is a prequel, meaning that the metal leg surgery will happen onscreen, either in the interquel movie or video game.
(Also but good lord I had not watched the Mario Galaxy movie and so was unprepared for it to be as potent a baby brain scrambler in speed and editing as I heard it was)
My first thought on seeing this new Starfox game is the immediate assumption it was developed by Ubisoft, but it’s not??? They’re totally chasing the boring AAA Hollywood realistic game look instead of a cool fun Nintendo aesthetic. The characters are quirky in that they’re more realistic to real animals but they’re also spooky ugly and the places they’re flying around are so generically realistically detailed. I don’t get it.
In the movie he specifically refers to them as “cool space boots.”
Here’s the trailer by itself at the beginning of the direct
Can’t believe they got Snoop Dogg and Ado in here. This is the first time in a while I’ve been interested in a new Yakuza game, I hope it’ll be good. The story and characters already hooked me, love the idea of fusing the time periods with music and violence
They spent all this money and labour on elaborately rendered cutscenes when they had already landed on a winning formula years ago:
In fact, if someone could just combine the bits from 2 where you plonk down on a colourful flat-shaded planet and scramble around the place in your wonky chicken mech with command’s fan fiction approach to plot, I think they could probably never make another star fox game and I’d be perfectly happy…
Sloppy the Frog is gonna shit all over this game and every other game
i’m also pumped from this trailer, definitely seems like the next evolution of the real Yakuza style, would love to hear how Snoop got involved
i haven’t played the Like a Dragon games past the first one (7), but i get a sense they’re not that good or maybe not worth the price
feels kinda weird using the likeness of an actor who’s been dead for over a decade. Do they just ask the family ‘can we use his face in our game’ and they’re like ‘yeah sure’?
I know the Onimusha games did it too, but it was weird then too
I watched that direct with a few hours of sleep and straight up thought I’d hallucinated the part where they ressurected the antagonist of the man who stole sun et al for their video game (in a world where estate consent means EVERYTHING!!!)
now that I’ve slept on it I think it’s good that Nintendo is re-normalizing paying 50 bucks for an arcade game
i have mixed feelings. on the one hand, i haven’t play Star Fox 64 since it was on the Nintendo 64, so playing a remake now feels “fine” to me. i kind of like the visuals, at least on the playfield, and the sound effects sound really crunchy to me, so i’m curious how it all feels when working together.
on the other hand, it’s kind of pathetic that they seemingly don’t know how to make a new one of these games. that would be a lot more exciting to me than a retread of a game i played to death 30 years ago.
anyway, some rumor list i saw last month seems to be really accurate, so i guess we can expect an Ocarina of Time remake coming soon, woof.
right now i’m Coping by pretending that this is just part of Nintendo’s strategy in recent years of having a team make a low-risk remake before making an original title (Samus Returns → Dread, Prime Remastered → Prime 4, LAHD → Echoes of Wisdom)
