I think the funniest thing about paprium, reading up on how the people who actually got a cart feel, is that the cart doesnât even work on legit consoles half the time. That seems to be the biggest audience excited to play the game via emulation

The ability to bundle all kinds of special chips with your game is the best thing about cartridges imo. Itâs like youâve got a sort of modular console or something. Itâs so cool!

Thinking about this since the Doom carts coming from Limited Run Games seem to have a Raspberry Pi in them to try and get the game to run better.
(Iâm morbidly curious how thatâs going to go, in some part for the sheer novelty but also just, yâknow, how they and every other company that crank out SNES repro carts manage to make ones that fry real hardware, so pulling enough power to run a Pi seemsâŚI dunno, maybe itâs doable, butâŚ)
(Oh also theyâre doing a controller that rumbles to go with it, so if you can fry your cart slot and controller port with a single gameâŚ)

This reminds me, at the Super Potato in Akiba, they had a little setup with an SNES that had a cart adapter that lets you play Genesis games but with the SNES hardware/controllers. Wonder what kinda emulator or whatever hardware theyâve got going on in that cart to make all that work.
Like at some point, weâll have an FPGA SNES cart that just lets you play PS1 games and everything, right??
