Was afraid that trailer was gonna end with a real human boy putting a gun (Evoker, whatever) to their head.
No idea who that guy is, though.
Oh, OK. Still no idea.

this isā¦ actually neat, imo. walks a fun line between inauthentic and creative. and itās consistent with the way that shader injection has worked for dx9 stuff for a long time anyway. I like the idea of a driver level modding SDK.
arguably itās the result of them releasing overpowered hardware in search of an actual use case but if I personally looked at peopleās predilection for buying shitty remasters that donāt reproduce original engine behavior faithfully and tried to come up with a way of scratching the same itchā¦ itās not quite as pure or as noble as source ports but I think the precedent here is basically good
especially since (from the perspective of the steam deck etc) dx9 APIs are functionally wrappered/emulated everywhere at this point, this is a novel thing to do with windows platform compatibility
the texture upscaling looks bad imo but to be fair it usually looks bad when done by hand too. I learned it from watching you etc.
Iām looking forward to playing half life 2 with ray tracing though
yeah, thatās another factor, most peopleās 4K texture packs for games from 2002 are usually pretty tacky as is, Iām actually quite sympathetic to the idea that these would benefit from a mostly-automated shader pass instead at that point
riot just fucking laid off like 500 people
āwhy gamble on game investments when i can put my money in a bank and get 5%ā - investors
I played around with this a bit on the previous version but it wonāt really be exciting until it can handle opengl games (which they plan on doing, but this is heavily dependent on the dxvk wrapper right now and there isnt an opengl wrapper of equal maturity)
The list of dx8 and dx9 games that actually work with this is very short and underwhelming.
Travel is boring? Thatās not true. Itās only an issue because your game is boring.
okay now Iām interested. The first game didnāt exactly hook me but this is some good talking, now lets see if the game will back it up
The lack of fast travel was definitely a strength of the first game and I was disappointed to later hear something about how they were adding more. (I think it was more of those posts you can use to create teleport spots.) Nice to hear that the overall philosophy is still intact.
yeah the current gen versions of DD give you the infinite ferrystone when you reach gran soren instead of after a NG clear which messes up the flow a lot. though for what itās worth DD only allows one way fast travel back to town, you have to hike to every destination regardless
vastly prefer the original approach, itās nice to have free home teleports when youāve already fully explored the map and it doesnāt mess with the better parts of the early game
Yeah, you canāt really do stuff like have those hit squads waiting for you on the roads if you have fast travel everywhere
Snap!
woah!!!
i feel a little embarrassed that all it takes to make me weak at the knees is blackout poetry and sixty two seconds of video art but
oh hell yeah
canāt wait to play project dracula
itās 100000 times more appealing than epic action shots over a terrible cover of some radiohead song, imo
Playstation owners have a reason to be excited as we have a new PS1 classic on PS4/5:
Star Wars Episode 1 The Phantom Menace
