Boosting over boost pads puts you at well over 1000 mph, so if a track has them near the end, it can make a difference.
However middlebrow their subjects you have to hand it to Naughty Dog for being the only bazillion dollar studio still completely focused on making single player games
I mean theyāre no Remedy! But still.
It remains so crazy we never got the fighting game.
itās digital, baby!
Wow, that scope really caught them by surprise, huh, if only thereād been, like multiple books by Richard Bartle and others telling you the first and most common trap for live service games is thinking you wonāt have to put your whole studio behind one, or, I dunno, some other company your dad conglomerate bought that could tell you they had to drop everything to work on theirs.
This is literally the reason itās getting canned. Bungie looked at it and said it needed work (despite how long itās been in development) and finally itās just being cancelled outright.
But according to a followup report from Bloomberg, it doesnāt sound like it was Naughty Dog itself that realised the game needed more time. According to Bloomberg, Sony has been asking Bungie (the Destiny developer that Sony acquired last year) to evaluate the various live service games the former currently has in development. Bungie apparently flagged some concerns over The Last of Us multiplayer gamer being able to ākeep players engaged for a long period of time,ā resulting in the reassessment.
In turn, the team working on the project has apparently been scaled back, with a small group staying on while Naughty Dog reevaluates the direction. It should be noted the game hasnāt been cancelled, but many of its developers are now on other projects. Of course, this does raise questions over whether Sony can release [all 10 live service games it had planned to by 2026.
Please Release 10 GaaS Sonyā¦
I think there were news reports that theyāve scaled back their expectations for GAAS stuff overall, so we probably will not get to see all 10 bombs from Sony.
I think the āmonster huntingā initiative from Sony for PS Vita was a lot more fun. Maybe they should bring that back, trying to turn every game into a monster hunting game. I was going to make a joke about a 4 player gravity rush, but that might actually be more suited to a Kirby Air Ride city trial clone.
Games As A Service is truly the hellmode of game development. The best outcome is a developer works on the same game forever until itās time for āa new gameā and the game is successful enough to be handed off to some other team. Worst case is that the game is online for a year or less and gets taken offline and is permanently unplayable.
i want yakuza to try games as a service I would lol
Please stop GaaS-lighting games.
Wishing it was just the game roadmap that got leaked and not employee personal documents too. I mean even if it was a lot of people are wringing their hands over the loss of āhypeā for the games. Most of this was a known quantity like Wolverine, and itās not like Insomniac wouldnāt make a Spiderman 3. Some people are lamenting that the game is being shown ābefore itās readyā and Iām like āall games look Like Thatā and I donāt really understand why showing something in progress ruins the final product or eventual ārevealā somehow. If Insomniac were making another Sly Cooper, Iād be interested, but they seem to only be doing Marvel games until the heat death of the universe. Hell if they were making another Infamous or Sunset Overdrive that would maybe make me feel something.
I find this leak stupid in other ways: the group wanted $2 million from Sony. There was no way Sony was going to pay that, they went after too big of a target. They would have made more money scamming smalltime operations who couldnāt afford the blowback. Now a bunch of peopleās personal info is out there and they didnāt even get the bag, over the most mid shit possible.
Gamers will never see the light of heaven. These are the same people who obsessed over puddles appearing/not appearing in Spiderman. Who count the polygons on trashcans and determine that Spiderman 2 was a ādowngradeā. These people are fundamentally miserable and delighted by nothing.
Just realized this means the official death of my annual E3 bit where I hope out loud for a Sunset Overdrive 2. Damnā¦it was never really a bitā¦I want that gameā¦
Canāt wait to play those X-Men games in uhhhhhhh my mid-40s.
Gotta remember to title the next [not] e3 thread āForever deny us delight and surpriseā
