RIP Virtua Fighter
the few seconds of streets of rage (5?) look kinda like spikeout? itās a shame itās not going to be another belt scroll action game, building on the ideas in sor4
golden axe looks like a dark soul. hopefully monster riding and local co-op and presumably some new ideas too will give it its own identity. surely itās gotta be better than beast rider, right?
shinobi might be cool, itās the hardest to judge tbh. shame itās not going to be like ps2 shinobi though. a game like that could really make waves in the 2020s
why does it look like crazy taxi has you playing as cops? gross
jet set radio is also hard to judge, though they show a lot more trick-doing than they do paint-spraying
finally, iām headcanoning the trailer world as being the same world as the cyberrazor cut ads after decades of civilisation rebuilding

Based on graphic style I am assuming the Shinobi one is by Lizard Cube, looks a bit too much like a rigid metroidvania thing though.

segaās sense of style is simply not what it used to be & i wish theyād take a stab at mixing it up and release a slate that genuinely attempts to cultivate some sort of generational aesthetic rather than a grab bag of genericized HD renderings of games they made 20+ years ago.
Even if theyāre obligated to publish the same 7 IPs, they could still push more towards defining a āmodern Jet Set Radioā look & feel that isnāt beholden to decades-old mechanics & aesthetics. If theyāre going to be obsessed with canonizing their own past, it would do them good to take a swing towards something new. I feel like Sonic Frontiers at least seemed to indicate more of a conversation with changing norms than any of these trailers imply.
Not like thereās a shortage of indie developers generating faithful continuations of popular Sega series with or without the official license.

honestly the combat looks a lot like it did in Trials except now with air dashing and Trials was a perfectly good game after they remembered to patch in difficulty
praying they make the party AI good this time (the fix in No Future is to give you a passive that makes them immortal which isā¦ a choice)
Iāll play that Indian food imigrant cooking game the show had twice. That came out this year. Seems neat.

god of war ragnarok valhalla looks so fucking stellar. roguelike combat arenas for kraters to bash and smash and slash forever? count me the Big F in, i am beyond stoked to play. i could see a lot of the armor systems and stuff being turned into different builds for each run! only have to wait a couple days to find out how it all works but im elated
