speaking of another game i had on my radar (other than Cocoon), this bizarre and ambitious immersive sim/fps game i played the demo of just launched in early access. it felt extremely Trans to me, for whatever that’s worth. maybe worth keeping track of anyway even if you don’t normally get early access games because it definitely left an impression.
also there was some psuedo controversy/non-controversy about Steam rejecting it due to content warnings and they got into a twitter fight with David Szymanski about it for some reason but that seems to be resolved
I installed this and played Dust 2 and Office and I was like “yeah that’s right” then uninstalled. There’s even less chance of me ever being really good at this game now that I’m up against kids with 244hz monitors loaded up on esports juice.
Listening to Tim Cain’s daily dispatches has been very fruitful. For example, did you know that the CEO of Zenimax, Bethesda’s parent company, is married to Linda Carter? Like Wonder Woman Linda Carter? And also that said CEO is (was I guess he died a couple years back apparently) Robert Altman who was one of the primary subjects of the BCCI scandal? I feel this is very important @Felix information
Call me a hater but the neon aesthetic doesn’t fit with pixel art. It mightbe nice with glowy vector art but this just feels not fun to look at. Mostly it just makes me remember how around February everybody was sharing box art of old Epyx games on tumblr.
And one day later, I learn that Letterboxd is being acquired. Of course the goal of an Internet company is always to get big enough for some huge company to buy (or if not the goal at least the irresistible outcome when the opportunity arises) but I sometimes wish my favorite sites would stay independent.
