I felt this way at the start of the trailer but warmed up to it halfway. I normally hate 2 1/2D but it feels like theyāre going for this āplastic action figures come to lifeā kind of aesthetic that actually kinda works for me? no clue if it plays well though but I donāt hate it the more I look it.

also just to make sure Iām not crucifying him exclusively, Nobuya Nakazato (the director of Contra 3, HC, SS and producer of Neo) was producer and director on Rogue Corps, so maybe no one gets Contra any more, not even the guy who made the most reconizably Contra games

but yes, in general, it seems like people who make Contra donāt like (or wonāt include) what i liked about Contra

idk, itās just not doing it for me. it seems kind of floaty and lifeless the way a lot of XBLA games were, except itās now over a decade later so my tolerance for that kind of 2 1/2D stuff is even lower

also not sure how i feel about this mario rpg remake still
iāve been replaying the original (on a snes classic) and while itās been nice, i admit that playing on a handheld with modern quality of life improvements and a little more polish would benefit imo. but on the other hand i think the style is a little off, maybe if it felt more like the Linkās Awakening remake with that pseudo diorama style or some other aesthetic choice, instead of what looks like just the usual key art but weird and squished. also if you could swap the old soundtrack, that would be neat.
like i could get into that, but could i get $60 into it? not sure.
