That video reminds about another thing which really bothered me in FFX:
Any character which was not a semi-main character, looked like absolute doodoo.

i thought one of the big reasons ffx was popular was that it had many attractive characters

It was by some margin the most impressively pretty game on the PS2 in every respect when it came out
i thought we were talking about character design
I did notice every non-main looked like goldeneye last night.

Right, my point is mostly that you can’t deliver that character design if your tech limits you to Lara Croft trianglebreasts or even FF8 blurriness
I was watching somebody play through this game last week and one thing that immediately stood out is how bad the cutscenes are – not only is most of the dialogue and VA terribad, they have absolutely no idea how to use the camera, so many weird-ass zooms and cuts.

Yeah, any time I’ve checked out random bits on YouTube, I’m always taken aback by how poorly paced the cutscenes are.
the only people i know who love FFX were like like 9 or 10 when the game came out and i think only through the lens of that kind of nostalgia can it make sense.
Yeah, I was a sophmore in Highschool. There was a potential for it to be a second peak of my interest in Final Fantasy. After not really loving 9 and with X being the first on PS2.
But even in that situation, I still really disliked X.

ffx kinda sucks (though it does have my second favorite turn-based ps2-era jrpg battle system after the smt nocturne press turn system) but ffx-2 is very, very good
