all this talk of premium storefronts and content has got me in the mood to engage with some brands
maybe we can chat about some content later on this influencer site then, ya?
Put this in the wrong thread lol
Hmmm do I get the PS4 version with the best graphics or the Switch version with the portability factor? Decisions, decisionsā¦
Latest BattleTech news, MELEE IS IN. After so many BT games, itās finally happening.

And they even added a thing where all the piddly little short range guns that normally suck like MGs and flamers get added to the attack.

Itās getting harder to keep caution in my optimism here.
whoa whoa whoa, hold the fuck up
thereās a new MechCommander?
that reminds me of front mission 3. iām interested in this.
Technically this is turn based, unlike MechCommanderās real time. Itās using the tabletop more as a base, but doing lots of new and different things that are looking neat. I posted an ealry demo video up the thread somewhere, a search on Battletech should point you to the post.
@zeno
Iāve often thought BT could be a good base for making a tabletop Front Mission homebrew actually, since itās already big robot combat with a lot of systems an FM game would need. Interestingly, one of the changes that Harebrained Schemesā game is making to TT is that units move and shoot immediately, rather than movement and firing separated into separate phases and all weapons fire being effectively resolved simultaneously, which is more like FM and many SRPGs.
on the tangent of homebrew Front Mission I actually think the Silhouette Core mech games might be a better fit (Jovian Chronicles and Heavy Gear)
Might be! We might be looking at it from different angles, Iām looking more at various bits BT has (like hit locations and such) that are already FM friendly, more than the basic nuts and bolts of the system itself.
You could probably slap something based on those extant BT bits on top of SilCore or something. Also might depend on which specific FM entry you would be looking to as a reference.
this really makes me want to replay front mission 3
I was also completely ignorant there was a fucking new turn-based Mechwarrior game in the pipeline for 2017. Really looking forward to this.
itās from the new shadowrun guys who have not demonstrated a great facility for making an interesting combat system, so Iām reserving judgment
I still backed it and apparently I shouldāve told yāall about it at the time though
Iām⦠not entirely sure about the balance of some of this stuff, especially the new terrain feature, but that can be worked out over open development. Necrodancer was still a hugely revitalizing approach to roguelikes before this anyway, even if the perfection demands in some settings / goals was a little exhausting.
I kind of interpret the higher power levels of everything shown as that the general difficulty level of zones will be ramped up too. (hence, Amplified.)
Not sure how that will play out! Might make sense to treat it as a completely different game mode than the original.
BT does have the benefit of being a wargame first and foremost though, and from what Iāve seen theyāve lifted most of the base stuff straight from the tabletop. Of course if you donāt actually like BT in the first place that wouldnāt mean much.
I also liked Shadowrun Returns combat (still havenāt got around to Dragonfall and HK), though it certainly wasnāt the most in depth thing. Though how interesting it could be does seem to vary according to how patient you are, if you sit back and pull overwatch long enough enemies will run into your kill zones, which was effective but not necessarily all that interesting.
Part of it also seemed to be about the actual scenarios you were placed in though, like that graveyard fight had a little more going on since it put more impetus on you to move as well as the risk of attack from multiple directions when the ghouls wake up.
dragonfall combat was just barely good enough to not be a significant weakness of the game. it was nowhere near as interesting as original sinās and the game dragged whenever it relied on combat too much, but it wasnāt bad.
is buckaroo banzai going to be in the game

The C91 doujin game preview collection is up, if youāre wondering what is happening in the world of doujin games.
The first game up is pure gold.
Nice. Iāll give this crafting roguelike a try, looks like itās already in English on Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/555630/
Sakuna has 100% sold me.
