The shooter the world needs

a little retrospective about Undertale by Toby Fox

I’m still a little ambivalent about undertale’s art (and very ambivalent about its fandom, general tone, and anyone who compares it to earthbound) but I swear the music and the mechanics really elevate it to being nearly as good as its adorers want it to be.

it’s a 9/10 easily!

The SB discord is already plotting to replace all the girls with the Cole Train

which is to say I’m plotting to replace all the girls with the Cole Train

Gravity Rush 2 is a game that’s coming out the same week as The Last Guardian and Final Fantasy XV. The above video is the obituary.

god this game looks good

and nier’s jpn release is already february!!

there is no reason to expect anything from this but it’s matsuno and underreported so

Last Guardian and Gravity Rush 2 are d1p.

Resident Evil/Some Ancient Manga mobile crossover remake

Sure what the hell

Interested for the soundtrack alone, since I’m a big fan of the first game’s score.

For as much as The Last Guardian nails the broad feeling it’s going for in this demo, it whiffs on the details. Specifically: It feels awkward as hell when it comes to actually controlling the main character. The protagonist doesn’t walk so much as he lurches in whichever direction you’ve pushed the analog stick.

so like controlling my actual body irl then 8)

Sounds like the last two Team Ico games!

Aye, it’s a big part of my remaining interest

I didn’t play Ico or Shadow of the Colossus that much, but “sluggish, lurching controls” definitely fits with what I remember, so I’m not sure this is a warning sign if you liked those games?

yeah, it would be way more worrisome if they were whip-tight and responsive!

probably should have added a WARNING: POLYGON to that post I guess

I specifically play as megaweights in Dork Souls because I enjoy believable lag

“controls feel like they would be more at home on the PS2”

Probably because it started life out as a PS2 game.

Video looks good. I might actually go on a media blackout for this one since I don’t really want to spoil it.

Way more worried about underbranching and didactic level design

i just cant muster up any cynicism about a Team Ico game where you draw upon the aid of a giant birdpuppykitten to solve puzzles, near-vaporware or no. that just speaks to me. its a game ive been consistentl hyped for over half a decade.
