MUWT 2: The Quickening

i was going to make a joke about the people who made rumble in the bronx having seen fargo/vice versa, but it appears…

they’re basically concurrent releases! two movies where people get shredded up by woodchippers within the span of like 2 months. halcyon days.

eta: actually, no wait. fargo ripped off rumble in the bronx. probably not, but.

also JC’s reaction to the garbage bag… he looks at it like it’s slightly spoiled leftovers, not 200 lbs of human hamburger

also i love how they like tried to hide his cast but you can obviously see it in the movie

Winker I am just watching movies I find on Japanese Amazon Prime while comforting a small child is it on youtube?

I liked F/N at the time but also it was a story I didn’t know and there is weird value in a pop film teaching you semi-recent history.

The Bogart version is much better :angrypig:

Still remember this movie’s release teaching me that my father is a huge fan of Clive Cussler’s DIRK PITT® ADVENTURES® because he was incensed @ McConaughey’s casting. Not HIS Dirk Pitt®!

Feels even more strongly about Willem Dafoe as TOM CLANCY’S® JACK CLARK® in Phillip Noyce’s TOM CLANCY’S® CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER®

Phillip Noyce has had a pretty weird career, huh?

“‘INDIANA JONES’ AND ‘JAMES BOND’ IN RELAXED FIT CARGO PANTS”

I actually thought it was a good stupid fun time when I saw it in theaters.

I still remember a part where evil white businessguy is talking to his sub-Saharan generalissimo partner in crime and expresses some kind of anxiety that they’ll be caught. The general responds, “Don’t worry. This is Africa. Nobody cares about Africa.” Pretty deep insight on world affairs from a movie emanating originally from the colonizerverse

Perhaps the problem was that there was a Stonehenge monument on stage in danger of being crushed by a dwarf.

the velvet vampire is nominally part of the cycle of lesbian vampire cycle of films from the early 70’s but actually directed and co-written by a woman. full of post-sexual revolution male anxiety, budget surrealism and straight-faced camp. recommend
