MUWT 2: The Quickening

While channel surfing I seem to have stumbled onto a really bad VHS rip of a dubbed Hong Kong movie about Bruce Lee trapped in another dimension with Dracula and Popeye?? And a bunch of dudes dressed like skeletons??

Edit: apparently it’s the 1977 film The Dragon Lives Again

Maybe we should make a list of Hong Kong movies with a bunch of dudes dressed like skeletons.

-The Dragon Lives Again
-The Super Inframan

I bet there are more.

I still need to see Robot Jox. I remember the trailer from when I was a kid.

i feel like i missed all the films from last year. i didn’t even watch midsommar. please suggest me some 2019 films please

The Lighthouse, High Life and Uncut Gems.

I’m told Vitalina Varela is good but haven’t had the opportunity.

in terms of like, very high profile movies, Parasite, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and Uncut Gems were all extremely great

robot jox is an empire pictures/full moon video take on mecha anime with all the good and bad that entails. one aspect of the production design has stuck with me to the extent that i think about it on a monthly basis.

I would also recommend OUATIH but (and I think you were in the caravan at the time) after more than six months I still vibrate over how much I hated it. It is a work of art in generated a hate machine for me. I hate everything about it.

I also now own the same brand of hawaiian shirt as Brad Pitt.

Like most Tarantino movies I was entertained but I would not watch it again.

Ford vs Ferrari
Ad Astra

1917
Joker is worth seeing

John Wick 3

Rise of Skywalker is a good Saturday morning cartoon

Ford vs Ferrari and Ad Astra are indeed great dad movies but 1917, Joker, and Rise of Skywalker are all horrendous

Parasite, the Lighthouse, and Uncut Gems are my vote

I am the most basic

it was an unusually great year for popular midbudget movies

the stuff film twitter is excited about isn’t usually that much better than what I see at the festival, America is weirdly leading right now

i didn’t really hate anything i saw this year, but other than parasite i can’t remember anything i saw that i really liked a lot either?

seconding atlantics & high life, adding portrait of a lady on fire

yep, came to say portrait

The Last Black Man in San Francisco is great

The Farewell and Knives Out were both very good

Parasite is the best, but everyone else got that covered

I adore Marriage Story something fierce, but it is the least SB movies, ymwv

Most of my big reccs have been covered, but if you like histrionic Nick-Cagey psychedelic body horror, The Color Out of Space was pretty good.
