Sonic CDā€™s JP soundtrack has a ton of great stuff in the vein of 808 Stateā€™s seminal chillout house track ā€œPacific Stateā€.

Itā€™s a very clear influence, and this track from the official Sonic CD remix album pretty much confirms it:

It lifts the exact chord progression! Itā€™s so blatant, lol.

EDIT: Wait a secondā€¦ I just went back to the original track, and you can hear it in there too, itā€™s just less obvious in the mix:
