I saw that back in like Feb because (fun tip!) Sundance lets you stream a few of the films that screen in competition there every year for a few bucks each and I picked that one. it was really good!
Here is the art house version of Hallmark channel schlock.
the new jia zhangke is my favorite of his i’ve seen
It’s Powell and Pressburger season on the iplayer so the perfect opportunity for a binge. Even got the mid Scorsese documentary.
Although the lack of Black Narcissus is particularly criminal. From old dvd and bad streaming platforms I think ITV somehow seems to own the rights to a large portion of the catalogue.
Illeana Douglas is so hot in To Die For… good for Marty

Drive-Away Dolls is an ok movie to watch on your phone in bed I guess.
2nd best marital aid reveal in the Coen oeuvre.
Ya it needed less lesbian cop sex and more lesbian cop killing!!!
I watched that grungy upload of Star Wars and I gotta say, this has to be the first time since I first saw the initial re-releases during the 90s that I’ve watched the movie and actually, y’know, watched the movie. Not looking for weird shit that got changed or bolted on or thrown in or cut out.
It was nice.
highly recommend this, it’s on Tubi
Saw Cliffhanger for the first time and in a cinema. Movie rips hard. Would have been obsessed if I saw it was a kid.
after two Lindsay Lohan Christmas Netflix movies and Hot Frosty, what better way to follow that up than with a movie about a tiny TV production that pretty much nobody outside Germany even knows:
Think Muppets or Sesamestreet, only with a tenth of the budget + 80ies DIY charme, and tack a ‘nobody is worshipping craftsmanship anymore’-reallife plot onto it, add a few very-high-level philosophical bits about letting go and moving on, and voilá,
you got me
after a few minutes already because childhood and stuff. A solid effort that nobody outside this tiny bubble will even want to watch, but it touched moi
in the right way, a thing that too many contemporary streaming-productions fail to do at all.
Burn After Reading is so good
saw the new godards with @dedede69, really cute watching him show off his handmade collaged storyboards. rip dad
I’ve been learning a lot about the Swiss man in Everything is Cinema. Almost done!
Watched the Christmas movie I worked on in the summer. They just credited me as the script supervisor and didn’t include the Budapest continuity person who worked for a few days of that side of the shoot. The lead actress doesn’t really have much screen presence and is the daughter of the director, which explains why she keeps working in these movies. Will Kemp does his best and was very nice to chat with. He was very polite and happy to talk when I asked him about working with Renny Harlin on Mindhunters and what coverage they shot on Step up 2 the streets.
Instantly added to my watchlist
The Lift is good, i liked how the stuff in between the haunted elevator kills was basically taking movie cop stuff 101 and applying it to elevator repairmen instead. boss is taking you off the case for going too far, wife wants you to choose between her and the elevator etc. the ending being someone firing a gun at an evil elevator control panel dripping organic blue slime was extremely good. kind of want to watch the remake with both naomi watts AND james marshall which i believe makes it part of the official twin peaks universe (source: one of those huge mark frost books, probably). merry dick maas to all who celebrate.
