Very glad to be wrong, then!
turtles
…
As long as they don’t talk any more about milking. I really didn’t like that
fwiw as someone who read the coral island and a bunch of other english prepschool-fantasy-adjacent stuff as a kid (biggles, enid blyton) I remember immediately placing lord ot flies as being in the same tradition… I think the stuff with Piggy feels a lot more identifiable with a particular social order if you read it at the same time as all these other books with comic relief kids named like Fatty or Biffer or something whose job it was to be jovially tormented by the narrative as well as all the lead characters
Movie I watched today: I didn’t catch the name bc I just caught it on tv while visiting my parents but it was some Xmas romcom where the only identifying quality was that the male lead looked disconcertingly like Jerma
forgot how awesome and gay and batman and musical black lizard is (no not the fucking mishima one). i havent seen this movie since before i was honest to myself about my sexuality and BOY HOWDY i was shaped by this a little bit wasnt i

now i wanna watch people get squished in the box at the end of solitary season 1
sorry for quality i guess i need to download this fucking show now
The Boy and the Heron… Wow… pure Cinema
I have so many thoughts about this movie idk where to begin. I read he made it for his grandson and that really makes sense… How a boy can become a man by rejecting the patriarchy with the power of sisterhood… It’s beautiful. I also feel like he is talking back against both anime food memes and facile green nationalist readings of his earlier movies… Weirdly accidentally excellently paired with the Hilda finale that I watched last night. Honestly that was a better end of childhood movie than this in many ways, but they work very well together… I’m not sure if this is one of my favorites (Ponyo is hard to beat) but it’s definitely up there
Maybe a freakish opinion, but when I watched In the Mood for Love for the first time last night, I was totally disappointed by it, pretty let down and bored. I guess I was expecting it would be more like Hiroshima, Mon Amour.
more prancing focused erotic crime movies!!!
I felt the same way after watching it!
sounds like you were not in the mood for In the Mood for Love
This means so much to hear, because it feels like the movie has universal praise. Not that I hate it or think it’s a bad movie or anything!
it should probably have some more sex scenes in it idk
That’s what Lust, Caution is for.
