i have a fondness for cube 2 because it’s so outlandishly stupid and high-concept that it crosses into camp for me, but also i haven’t seen it since i was a teen so

cube zero is the one i loathe personally since it tries to explain what shouldn’t be explained

The cube sequels literally have the same problem as saw which is why they suck, i hope you love finding out how the autistic guy got in there or whatever the fuck, but at least saw is grosser most of the time… Cube even has the thing where one of the people in the game is always completely fucking unhinged and a psychopath. The real glue tying them together is that they both got insanely mediocre half life 2 adaptations where you pick shit up with the E key and stuff from the movie happens.

Can it be worse than saw 4? Is that truly possible?

Love the first cube movie because it is a Twilight Zone episode where the twists are: all cops are bastards, and people will just build lament configurations because it’s too much a hassle to do anything else

There are no sequels imo

Cube 2: Hypercube is the best movie title of all time and is incredibly funny if you don’t know anything about what it or the original Cube are about

HYPERCUBE SOURCE

There’s actually a different cube hl2 mod that’s more finished, extremely Russian and has a kin dza dza easter egg in it

It’s super bad. It is the worst Cube media I have seen, mainly because it is I think pg-13

cube 2 has a guy who time travels to cannibalize himself repeatedly as his only source of nutrition, as evidenced by having like nine copies of his own watch. that movie kicks ass. it’s so stupid.

cube zero is bad

I was exposed to Cube as a teen due to canadian content requirements on Canadian cable. I barely remember Cube 2 and have never seen the third one to complete my letterboxd collection.

mrs hamsalad and i watched saloum which had been on our shudder list for however long

i was not expecting it to be a sort of Sonatine-ish thing set in North Africa, weakest part is the stuff with actual spirits, best part is all the unbelievably uncomfortable dinner scenes, definitely going to seek out more of this director’s stuff

I haven’t seen all of the twilight series but decided to rewatch the first three in order to prep for the last two, which all my friends say contain some really baffling shit. Everyone I know who saw these movies when they were in the target audience age says that they are well worth seeing just for how aggressively mormon-pilled the series really comes across, and how impossibly deranged the romance between Bella and Edward is. And they’re right. The first one is actually really easy to enjoy as camp, it’s authentically fun and handles its material with the right kind of serious irony that I really think the rest of these should have. The second is less camp, but it becomes extremely easy to mock due to that. The third, however, is like just so drab and boring and there is way too much teen heart throb will they won’t they and way less repressed horniness exploding out of characters in the most neurotic statements and actions. It’s a weapon perfectly designed to win the teen’s choice award, which is really a horrible horrible thing to witness.

Really, it’s just far too ordinary of a teen movie to say much about, except how absolutely no one in this film possess a lick of style…

default character creator lookin ass

P.S.: I am 22/31 for Elvis movies. We are just now exiting the horrible Romantic Musical Comedy era and really only have his dramatic genre films left to watch, so it’s all a slight incline from here.

good now read this

watched the m. night shyamalan films old and knock at the cabin and really enjoyed both of them idk i think he is a good director. these movies are great for nerds of things like the complex blocking of johnnie to movies for example, theyre full of well-composed shots (plus theyre shot on 35mm with vintage anamorphic lenses!) and theyre both centered on a group of characters in a single location and derive a lot of their suspense from their blocking and editing and compositions of shots more than anythint else. i think there are a lot of things that read as bad to people about them (as well as the happening which is of an extremely similar vibe to these two) that are often meant to be funny or absurd idk i think there is a bit of ironic detachment from the sort of existentially unnerving concepts and images being played with in these movies. like i think i would compare his style of horror to junji ito, whose work also often silly and creepy at the same time

im really fascinated by the way m night centers the gay guys in knock at the cabin…it seems like a really sincere gesture from an incredibly christian guy to be like “what queer people do is very important and your struggle has been ongoing for a long time” its an interesting angle especially coming from him because i think he is a really empathetic filmmaker

i mean besides the fact that like the acting in that movie is amazing etc etc lol its just one of his best movies

The first movie had a lot more director control and trying to fix the horrible dialog and after that the author got in arms and made the actors say her words and it seemed like a disaster all told.
