From what I hear

Bugonia : Save the Green Planet :: The Departed : Infernal Affairs

A bloated prestige remake of a cult classic east asian film that is strictly worse than the original on all fronts

I like Yorgos but remaking a movie like STGP is a stupid idea

I liked Bugonia for the most part, but I was worried throughout that it was going to do that specific twist at the end, and then it did.

at least he acknowledges the movies he’s remaking now even though I don’t think the castle of purity guy is getting a shout out from him anytime soon for inspiring dogtooth

yorgos only has so much sauce in him and the last drops are getting squeezed out of his bottle it feels like, and yeah this is all karma for dogtooth as far as I’m concerned. it wouldn’t have hurt anyone to mention castle of purity!! he wouldn’t have lost face!!

look despite the leto of it all and despite me being a big enough tron fan to pop for the ā€œdumont recyclingā€ logo and references to the tron 2 ARG and despite it being not close enough to our world to be relevant and not alien enough from our world to be interesting, tron 3 even fails at the basic level of ā€œa tron movieā€ by not even really being a good music video for the soundtrack. the retro original tron stuff is cool though that shoulda been in legacy

Finally watched Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning.

Still don’t care for Gabriel as a villain (guy’s too corny!). That might be my problem with the movie as a whole, and the last one…they’re just kinda corny! The ending? Kinda corny!

Glad we got like three of the requisite ā€œTom Cruise running very fast in a straight lineā€ scenes. And while it’s clearly for nostalgic effect, bringing the guy who got dicked over in the first movie back was a nice touch, if they had to go sentimental with things.

Three hour long action movies like this and Wick 4 should instigate a congressional hearing imo. It’s too much movie!

they need to make intermissions fucking mandatory if our movies are going to be as long as the ones that HAVE INTERMISSIONS

They really don’t care if we leave to piss during their movies

John Wick Netflix series that has 12 hour long episodes that are just the same action setpiece the entire way

that would be cool though, just imagine a fixed camera for a fixed action piece set, and you just watch like you’d do with a weather cam. Brawling gangs from minute 1 to 12, then the victorious gang goes off the stage, in with the cleaning team for minutes 12 to 1h 15. Postman and UPS at 1h30 and 1h50.

Cat strolling around at 2h15.

etc.etc…..

When we saw John Wick 4 multiple people left to piss during the Skull Face scene where keanu and larry fishburne were in a boat and it went on so long they all came back before it was over

I’m still waiting for that director’s cut that’s even longer, I got nothing better to do

what could there be left to add

I’ll watch the directors cut if we get more rina sawayama fighting people like hawkeye (so not going to happen) bow cqc is ridiculous and kicks ass

Deleted Scene of John Wick getting locked in the Eiffel Tower elevator and killing guys all the way up and then back down again.

Dream: Director’s Cut now with MORE Gesaffelstein

Nightmare: They double the length of the stairs fight by kicking him down it two more times.

If you get out of your seat to go piss, you miss the scene where he carefully curb stomps a whole crew of guys

This guy agrees. of course there are john wick fans who think he didn’t curb stomp enough guys

I mean the main way it fails at this is that Tron is not in this movie, right?

This is a very stupid thought that is probably not worth the time it’s going to take me to explain it but I was thinking today about how Tron is kind of a reverse John Tekken situation in that the franchise actually is named after one of the characters in it, but everyone including the people who make these movies just kind of ignores this. I think this is maybe the only example of this? Like where a media property becomes a franchise that ends up having so little to do with the character it’s named for that people forget that the franchise is actually named for that character. Whereas the opposite situation is all too common, like the film equivalent of instinctively adding a ā€˜s to every restaurant name because you think it’s named after the person it belongs to
