I liked the cartoon Strange World BC it has an ecological theme that is not just fern gully/avatar for the millionth time but I also understand why it didn’t do so well in theaters. It seems like exactly the kind of movie parents would want their kids to like but lacks a lot of the bells and whistles that kids actually go nuts for. Also Disney and Pixar really need to stop making movies by, for, and out of Dads. Way too many dad centric animated films out there

ok i actually am just saying it owns now

finally watched the favorite after getting SO ANGRY AT HOW BAD CORSAGE WAS, it was like getting CPR. my ribs were broken by the impact but the shock brought me back to life. abagail is the female barry lyndon!!

this is actually strong testimony and explains why I liked corsage more than I expected to

really fucking annoyed that she had dalmatians for two seconds like her salukis were dead but then when the king talked to her in the next scene her salukis were back. what the fuck was up with that. his removable sideburns were good though. and the tassled purple dress she wore like she was gonna go linedancing after visiting the mentally insane

the camerawork was fucking dire and boring and the blue was very blue. there was so much life in the camera in the favourite that i was completely annoyed

i watched corsage because someone said it wasnt dry and that the queen actress was funny but she just sits around and sulks, flips someone off, cuts her hair. i guess im just not interested in white people aging gracefully physically and gracelessly emotionally, its literally what all my het friends are doing

it wasn’t lanthimos! just seemed like him in some ways with the anachronisms

oh i was saying that the corsage fucking annoyed me because favorite camerawork was so good. i didnt think they were the same director i just watched them back to back

someone was SO EXCITED about having that swivel camera. i like yorgos keeping up with his injury to the face motif too

favourite had a better cast too like i did not care about anyone in corsage because they dont USE ANYONES FUCKING NAMES EVER WHO ARE YOU AUSTRIAN FUCKS and rachel weisz/emma stone/olivia colman (and the opposition homo he was hilarious) are busy knocking it out of the park in every fuckin scene when youre chilling with yorgos so it makes the other movie seem even worse comparatively.

I watched The Menu. It was intense, it was fine but nothing more. I am glad I just watched it on streaming instead of in a theatre.

I did not care for this movie and I was honestly disappointed that it wasn’t about cannibalism

Definitely feels like if direct-to-netflix movie did a fusion dance with A24-ā€œ""elevated""ā€-horror

yeah. weirdly sour tone. phoned in but in a way I couldn’t put my finger on.

according to letterboxd, i watched 10 whole movies in 2022. i miss the days of when i was living in the bay and i would watch at least 100 movies a year. jp and korean movie boom was my time to to shine. ah well.

the highlight of last year was was everything everywhere all at once and the sense of disgust i felt rewatching goodfellas for the final time in my life probably. i have become the worst kind of weeb and ridiculously sad visual novels and anime are most of my media consumption now.

those were all the visual novels we had, karen!!!

took me a second but i legit laughed

I loved this movie growing up because back then, I really wanted to be a gangster. The allure of living a different life where people respected and feared you just because of your friends and family was something of a weird heirloom I inherited. Watching it now, with the passing of Ray Liotta on my mind, I realized that I was no longer drawn to his character and any all sympathy I had for each of the others way back when has evaporated.

At any rate, this film is nothing but a distant memory of a story I once loved. I’ve found closure and laid it to rest with the leading man himself.

you know what, not a single rando liked this review because i clearly stepped on toes but considering how mad i was, i don’t think it actually came through in my review. i was pretty tame in my teardown of it.

edit: i’m gonna link it, hope that’s cool: https://letterboxd.com/holy/film/goodfellas/

holy shit, i forgot that saw that really bad thor movie IN THEATRES lmfao. god what an awful fucking piece of shit that was; i didn’t think they were gonna make another bad thor movie but jesus christ, sitting there with my friend i literally thought about dying more than once

they liked it and said they thought it was sweet

we only went to see it so that we could end their visit to me on a good note but they totally wasted christian bale and the ’ comedy ’ was painful. that shit had me questioning if i even liked dudes anymore. the ’ fanservice ’ did nothing for me. nobody fuckin’ looks jacked like that in real life. anyway, do NOT watch it. you WILL be mad.
