Call me when Paul Feig reboots Evolution

The combination of Spielberg nostalgia and Stranger Things showing it could be mined for big bucks has released this shit on us all.

Things I did not anticipate about my adulthood, but learned from warmovis: Spielberg is the bad guy.

Only one of the Stranger Things kids in this? Psh, disappointing.

although, one positive thing i will say about the new movie based on the trailer, is it is very cool to see the weird colored lighting effects again. i think i have more nostalgia for that sort of thing than i do the slimy look that lots of puppets and stop motion effects creatures have in 80s movies. watching the trailer for that and the one for the phil tippett motion picture length tool video kind of made me realize this. though obviously i still have a lot more respect for the phil tippett thing, but i absolutely will not watch it lol

If your film development VP supervised executive producer team supervised writer’s room leads you to a Ghostbusters sequel that has a colon: subtitle, of what use was your film development VP supervised executive producer team supervised writer’s room

satisfying executive notes, thoughtlets, just-a-suggestions

are you the keymaster? haha no problem if not

ridley scott is making a movie where an entirely american cast talk to each other in fake italian accents the whole time, incredible

also forgot to mention it features jared leto in elaborate balding middle aged man prosthetics

honest to god italian american identity has been really weird lately

like to the extent that extremely online stuff tends to get sanitized into big budget media because all the writers are on twitter anyway, I think people have gone a little screwy lately from all the sopranos references and the “this is the one impression you can do that’s never racist” meme (which is absolutely true at least, we deserve it, but still). it probably helps that fear of being cancelled etc. has led people to seek refuge in doing, like, very one-sided performances off the side of their personality and these are reassuringly coherent as far those options go but… man

Yeah, this is the exact lone part of that trailer that worked for me.

me too! i almost felt embarrassed about it, but when that scene in the trailer appeared i actually did experience that glimmer of aging millennial dork nostalgia that apparently hollywood is fully invested in figuring out how to strip mine

watching the trailer, it feels like scott saw this meme and took it as a challenge. his filmography suggests he’s operating on this like elizabethan-era level of racism/exotification of the mediterranean that is based entirely around the conviction that the italians do not deserve rome

between this and his other movie coming out this year (lol), where matt damon plays a french knight with a horrible mullet and goatee, it really feels like scott is working through his feelings about the continent

still thinking about the collective effort it took to make jared leto look like this when paul giamatti and/or jeffrey tambor are right there

Dune dropped the ball with that Hans Zimmer b.s. but Candyman realized that the bar was high with Philip Glass having done the original.

I have been waiting so long for this. Won’t watch the trailer, but I’m excited to see one finally hit.
