mobile games post-2016: are they good do they do good things let's find out

Is there any 2016-forward mobile game that isn’t a vile waste of time and made money?

I played a mobile game called “Bury Me My Love” where you are having a text conversation with your wife.

Youre from Syria circa 2016. She is escaping. Poorly.

Edit: oh I have no idea if it made money

The only one I can think of is Super Mario Run. It made money, just not enough for Nintendo to keep wanting to make games you unlock for a flat fee when they can get that sweet sweet gacha money.

Oh I thought of one Mouth Man look at his Pearly Whites Yell.

The Room 4 just came out on android yesterday. I finished it a couple hours ago. It was pretty good.

if we’re talking exclusives, I’d struggle. cinco paus is pretty good? but otherwise it’s largely a lot of stuff that’s available elsewhere like gorogoa. not a lot of interesting exclusives like device 6 or ziggurat or hoplite for the past couple years, really

The Guides and its sequel (The Guides: Axiom) are pretty good and come with my personal recommendation if you’re into mysterious, vaguely-paranormally-themed cryptography-adjacent puzzles that invoke the mystique of MK Ultra and Enigma-machiney, cipher-wars govt black project stuff

to twist my own question with an honest answer I really enjoyed Million Onion Hotel and Dandy Dungeon. The second one to a point. I am on board for whatever Kimura does next.

don’t know about money but part-time UFO is my favorite overall game of the year so far and it was made by the folks at HAL laboratory!

actually I’ve played a crapton of didn’t-make-the-popularity-charts games on mobile, I should make a megapost of recommendations

Everything that Michael Brough puts out is straight fire. Lots of very mechanically novel and intricate yet accessible puzzle roguelikes. Cinco Paus is cool and weird, but my favorite is Imbroglio (which is, for me, a rare Forever Game that I will never tire of).

Imbroglio actually just got a new expansion that adds a very cool attack charging mechanic that I’ve been having a great time messing around with.

I always assumed that Deus Ex GO wasn’t terrible based on the two games that preceded it, but I’m not sure I know anyone who actually tried it.

…I’ll play those darn Flow Free games endlessly >_>

The following trilogy of free goofy Japanese adventure-puzzle games are the best, funniest way to spend a long train commute with your significant other:
Hidden My Game By Mom
Hidden My Game By Mom 2
My Brother Ate My Pudding

Oh shiiiiiiit

We’ve talked about this a million times username keep up.

DX Go is good but Tomb Raider Go (or is it Lara Croft, whatever) is still the best.

dream quest dream quest dream quest (ios only sorry)

bury me, my love is the most important game i played last year and it’s also brutal

i played Necrosoft’s Gunhouse on Mobile and Never Stop Sneakin’ on Switch and i realize now that i should’ve reversed those platforms for those specific games

Super Mario Run is not worth 10 dollars but it is at least the most competently made of all the Nintendo-produced apps they’ve made so far. and looking back on it now, i think i really despise Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp

sorry for this unhelpful comment
