I miss that being one of the core lines!
As a kid I was lucky enough to also have a nice Exin castle set but those were ahead of Lego in having a bunch of purposed pieces and planning a design around those outside of the main kit was outside my scope.
Plus they didn’t have the cool figurines! They just had toy soldier style guys.

you’ll still be paying a lot if you want whole entire castles, but even then, you’ll be getting a lot more for your money than with actual lego and you’llbe able to populate them with whatever minifigs you want for less than £1 each
