anyhow, at one point in the new trailer samus does a backdash, which makes me hope they have some good ideas about movement this time around

relatively recent destiny 2 updates i will say have been more interesting when they’ve been a bit more metroid primey, a bit quieter and spookier

I couldn’t even get past Metroid Prime 3’s intro back in the day, and this game’s is turning me off in the exact same way. Seems like they’re continuing the dollar store Halo knockoff aesthetic of the third game, starting you off with an extended cutscene of a generic space battle, followed by a tutorial area where a bunch of stupid looking space marines turn to you like “oh, Samus, thank god you’re here! shoot the hinges!!” Then you go around greyly shooting grey space pirates sent there by some idiot from Metroid Prime Hunters.
I want this to be good! I’d really like to play a good Metroid Prime game in 2025… Maybe once you get on the planet they’ll fucking chill out and do some actual metroid stuff.
yeah this looks pretty bad, it’s like Call of Duty for families as if Call of Duty itself isn’t primarily targeted to 11 year olds with slightly worse parents
Oh I almost forgot to mention the moment where they show off scanning, and the second thing available for you to scan is a selection of crates. They scan one of them and the description is like, “a large Federation crate. This is the larger of the crates used by the Federation to store various goods.”

i wish that anyone who made an official Metroid game ever understood what makes Samus cool even a little bit

metroid games are like the only games I kinda care about Integrity at all…which is why I have I think healthily not considered these later games as Metroid games for my own brain. Samus needs emancipation* from Nintendo let some adults make a game for a change
