I was ready to hit buy but read that the Hall Effect 2.4 GHz / Bluetooth version of the 8bitdo Ultimate doesn’t support x-input at all, which kills it for me :frowning:

hmm?

i’m reading the product page here and it says it has two modes, xinput and switch.

when i configured profiles it prompted me to pick which of the two i wanted to configure

i’ll poke around and see if i can confirm

manual says the same fwiw but maybe you can’t use xinput over bluetooth?

digging out one of their dongles

Yes re-reading the user reviews on the amazon page xinput is indeed supported over 2.4GHz but not bluetooth. Thank you!

i was also mistaken in the original post: a dongle is included but hidden in a compartment on the bottom of the dock!

shows as an xbox one controller over the USB dongle in steam fwiw

i wouldn’t endanger another person by having them in the same room as my ps3 while it’s running a ps2 game

Thanks for posting about this, I forgot this came out! I’m gonna pick one up and try some Monhun on it. Hope it doesn’t feel huge in my hands

This reminds me of the Dual Shock 3 I found in a goodwill in Anchorage that had the face buttons replaced with bullet shells

hilarious caveat: only sends analog buttons if it’s plugged in to a PS3 via USB or via the PS1/2 dongle, so if you want the analog buttons in PCSX2 or RPCS3 you need to use an adapter for the dongle

maybe the forthcoming bluetooth PS3 sixaxis version will do analog for windows but lol

I used to go to this Goodwill and this does not surprise me even a little!

I still wear a jacket I got at this place. I’ve also found…a PS2 copy of Armored Core 3 here?! I think!? There was one year I came back with like 6 PS2 games after visiting nearly every thrift store in Anchorage.

I think the last thing I went there for was a pant-suit for a Publisher’s Clearinghouse Prize Patrol costume. This, in combination with a giant cardboard check and a fistful of balloons meant we were probably the most popular attendees of Chilkoot Charlie’s party that Halloween! Drunk strangers LOVE taking selfies with the prize patrol!

The 8Bitdo Ultimate Wired Controller for Xbox is an excellent pad. No complaints*. Love the hall effect sticks (oops, this is only on the bluetooth version), back paddles, hotswappable profiles, long cable with breakaway cord, and sexy pink coloring. probably my favorite modern controller due to the back paddles being really good for ergo workarounds

* OK, OK, one complaint - the D-pad is not nearly as good as the clicky one on the xbox series pad

wait, I thought the hall sticks were only on the bluetooth switch/windows version
