methods of input (Part 1)

it is a joke clearly (i thought) being made at my own expense

i think it is good to repeat anything that bears mention for the sake of conversation

this forum software is full of weird bossy little nags, and while some of them are turned off many of them are still there and even embellished, you may notice

Oh I know! I re-wrote most of them when SB2 started to be less obnoxious. The post too short one gets my goat every time.

while i’m being rude in this thread it seems like the latest firmware on the latest model of xbox one wireless controller (not the sex model) has broken triggers over bluetooth on windows-less-than-10 without any apparent rollback mechanism and i would like @doolittle personally to refund me for this inconvenience

Did you at least get it on sale for $40?

No joke I can trade you another one I haven’t updated lol

It is actually no inconvenience to me whatsoever as I have every model and an S|X pad and both versions of the 2.4ghz PC dongle, lol. If anything it has provided me with more entertainment in finding new problems to solve with my abundance of otherwise useless PC controller ecosystem bag of solutions.

My laptop has the 2.4ghz built-in despite Microsoft claiming the GPU isn’t for gaming

I for one enjoy being Windows 10 bodysnatched

Why would you update the controller firmware?

b/c bluetooth is super flaky on the Series controllers out of the box and I keep hoping they’ll patch it

Forwards compatibility with new consoles for one. There’s also profile and mapping storage on the controller itself that was patched in for accessibility settings.

I remember the first time the Xbone controller FW was updated, it was literally ā€œRespawn said the action on the sticks was bad so we made better, drop a titan on it guysā€

anyone know what this is? it looks like it’s for some kind of serious work, but at the same time, it has what appear to be inbuilt game controls in the top corners of the keyboard

neat

Just as I’d suspected I am correct to have a half dozen RF dongles

the latency bible may be of interest to you doolittle

note that some controllers poll more slowly by default and if you’re using a non-MiSTer solution you might have to account for that

This rules, thanks!

I’m surprised controllers aren’t more scrutinized for wireless quality when low latency wireless is so important/popular with e.g. mice. You would never see a Bluetooth mouse recommended for games.

wow ordering a buffalo pad brb

https://everdrive.me/controllers/joyzzmd.html

I don’t have a Genesis but this would appear to be a good deal on the lowest latency pad available.

Just a heads up, I have two joyzz pads I spent like $80 each on that are amazing, but they do have occasional dropout issues (using mode A and mode B and using different controller/dongle combinations).

I have never had dropout issues with the M30 2.4g.

It could just be my weird house… the only other wireless controller I ever had problems with was a Wavebird. :man_shrugging:

I got an M30 2.4g after reading all of this because I don’t have a Genesis anyway. Thanks for the warning!
