methods of input (Part 1)

Does anyone have an attachment for PS4/XB1 controllers that connects cell phones? Kinda interested in that world but idk where to start

i donā€™t love them but iā€™ve got a few, the best have 2 point articulation, so

or https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/p/powera-moga-mobile-gaming-clip-for-xbox/8rtf503l2pl9

I had a ps4 cellphone clip for my galaxy s4 but running anything worthwhile emulation wise meant I had to have the phone plugged in and at that point Iā€™m better off finding something to play on DS or some such. It was really nice when I used it thought. Hard to beat a good cellphone screen and a real controller.

Yeah the goal is kind of a ratchet switch/wiiU setup with my Pixel 4a. I would prefer a Dualshock 4 solution because of the kinds of games I want to play (PlayStation and digital), but Iā€™m looking at a $12 moga xbox one 2 pt articulation clip 5min from my house, soā€¦ Maybe it wonā€™t be that big of a deal? XB1ā€™s dpad isnā€™t that bad, but I prefer dpads on the outsideā€¦ Hm

:musical_note: I see you windinā€™ and grindinā€™ up on the floor :musical_note:

Man, has Microsoft ever put out any promotional material that wasnā€™t cringe inducing?

I had a SideWinder joystick and that was pretty tame compared to theseā€¦ It was just a joystick :man_shrugging:

Last weekend I almost put myself on record posting i was going to do all the pads on hand, and then I got super busy so Iā€™m glad I didnā€™t.

The oddball Sidewinders are, I think still stashed at my parents, unless I buried one in a box here. With stuff being what it is, Iā€™m not sure when Iā€™ll be able to pop in next. But I have not forgotten! This is one of two major projects that I feel like a jerk about making SBizitiens wait so long on.

I looooved my [pre-usb] Sidewinder gamepad! I wore all the membranes ā€“ and my wrists ā€“ to nothing on MAME, but I only stopped using it when my computer no longer hadā€¦whatever that port was. I remain convinced the only reason it never achieved intellimouse status is the super-mushy d-pad.
The grip was so much more natural than, like, a Saturn pad, or really anything other than the N64; it just sits in your hands and the buttons are all right there, including the L and R. Thereā€™s no tense ā€œready positionā€.

It was also the only PC controller at the time with that kind of bulk, and now that I think about it the similarities to the Duke are pretty considerable.

Daaamn, I had that gamepad too! It fucking ruled

Wasnā€™t that LPT, the line printer terminal?

Looking it up it actually was the ā€œgameportā€ā€¦

Are we talking that smaller comfortably concave Sidewinder pad which had both gameport and usb versions, or that Sidewinder Precision Pro, which was the big boomerang shaped thing with the big dome shaped analog thingie?

The latter was my first PC controller, and for the first month I hated it and felt like I made a huge mistake, then I got the hang of it. Now I really miss it. Mapping the furthest two of the six face buttons to up and down in the PSO menus is still my optimal PSO experience. I wish PSO2 wasnā€™t built for dual analog.

I had this one:

So many memories!

I love that concave shape!

Itā€™s so unusual yet so right, yeah

There is a usb version of it! Iā€™ve only seen the smokey clear version as the daisy-chainable gameport version though. Next time I see one of those I should swap out the shells.

My prior Xbox one pad, despite a relatively successful bumper repair, started having the left analog stick melt off on my thumb, so I jumped on that sexbox 40USD deal that went around. I think this might be the most delightful controller Iā€™ve ever used? I hope it holds up to abuse. Feels solid. Lots of little improvements!!!

And it is absolutely beautiful!

Curious how a dpad connoisseur feels about this one if you have thoughts
