Genesis emulators could add in a widescreen mode like SNES emulators have done recently, but I’m not aware of any that have done that.
I believe the Virtua Fighter 32X port somehow had a widescreen mode but it may just be pulling off one of those tricks you mentioned.
Edit: includes facts about the propeitary chip and how it will probably never work on a flashcart.
i’m chipping away at Jurassic Park slowly. what a brutal fucking game lol
i’m not even messing with the raptor yet. it’s grant all the way until i’m done with his levels. i’ve gotten up to the volcano but haven’t cleared that one yet
I was scrubbing through some playthroughs looking for the T-Rex showdown that blew my brain back in the day and realised I’d only played the later Rampage Edition which isn’t great either but I used to get the T-Rex stuck and just hypnotise myself by staring at the waterfall. That and the blood red skies and heavy bloops of the end screen almost convinced me the game was cooler than it was.
the way the waterfall ‘static’ stretches as it scrolls down the screen…sublimely observed
i’m not gonna look at this too much because i prefer to remain unspoiled on things outside what the attract mode shows me but, uhh
JP on genesis is weird, Grant has to get rough and tumble with some dinos and frag grenades, but it’s sort of presented as a grim necessity. your default weapons are stun guns and flash grenades and no-kill tranquilizer darts
meanwhile rampage edition goes from 0 to machine-gunning raptors right away, it’s…
it is a thing
I thought people knew
JP is like a cinematic platformer (even more with the raptor) whereas Rampage Edition is a dumb run and gun and also it’s a million times easier than the original
the SNES Jabrassic Park game was the oddest of the lot IMO
Those first-person sections were really something
All the SNES JP game needed was some kind of password or save system and it would have been perfect, tbh. It’s a long game with a lot of ground to cover, and having to clock it in one sitting or (gasp) leave your SNES on overnight is a real bummer.
Ocean also put out a JP game for the Amiga that is alarmingly similar to the SNES release. The first-person segments look…about as playable, really.
can’t believe we’re saying SNES JP is the oddest one when JP Interactive for the 3DO exists
Or does it
Someone play megadrive lost world.
I remember it being all right! Top-down like the SNES game, but level-based.
All this time I thought the side scroller with the raptor WAS Lost World!
Time stamped, I ain’t ever seen this shit in my damn life.
i’ve seen it and i’m afraid of it. shit ain’t right. this ain’t genesis. genny can’t do that! no! no!!!
holy shit
I had that game : -)
