this entire dream sequence maze thing sucks and reminds me of a 2010’s indie game about depression. then you get all your weapons taken away and have to do a stealth section, which I keep failing.
Ok I cheated a bunch at a boss battle, the guy had like a zillion health and I don’t have enough health to survive reloading my own guns. He took two grenade explosions to die after pumping a bunch of lead into him.
Before this was a “stealth” section where all you have is a baseball bat, and this made me really get into the Max Payne character. Previously I was like “ah he’s some guy, I’m shooting these annoying gangster types” but now I’m attacking people with a vengeance.
This is actually a much better game than Hotline Miami, not just because enemies aren’t shooting you from rooms you can’t see. In retrospect I am wondering how much the synthwave soundtrack carried that game.
You know I really hate this collectible stuff in the Saga levels in AW2 …and yet here I am at the very end clearing all collectibles. Decades of gamer sickness has created this tendency in me.
I finished Alan Wake a couple weeks ago and now that I have a Series X I’ve been playing Alan Wake 2. I love how this is such a direct sequel to the first game, bringing back old characters and revisiting locations from the first game. I’ve spent most of my time so far just exploring every location as far as I can before having to move forward with things and I really appreciate that they let you do that.
The combat in the first game kept getting in the way of my exploring the levels so I’m glad they’ve de-emphasized it somewhat in this game.
feels unfair to knock the first hotline miami for a conspicuous flaw of its sequel
yeah seriously it wasn’t until hotline miami 2 where that became the foundational principle of the level design. God that game was so bad it drove my ex into a furious state for three entire months where she analyzed the entire game piece by piece to destroy it
I didn’t play 2 but I played 1 and it happened a bunch. maybe I should refresh my memory on it. I just remember playing one and feeling really angry and aggressive
imo I’m not a huge fan of the first one either to be fair but I really didn’t notice it being so bad until 2. I could be wrong though, it’s been ages since that game came out huh
December 11.
I feel like in the last chapter max payne is kinda getting thin. Some of the maps which are less linear are a lot of fun to run around in, but I am quicksaving after every encounter it’s so easy to get ganked here lmao. The parking garage level felt endless
Finished max payne! it was really good. Good blowy up ending.
read four times
“The Final Drift”
and would love to play that. And then, PLEASE, follow it up with Bloodborne Kart… there’s nothing more that i would and could wish for
Barritoné Voice Announcer could proclaim
Max Speed for Max Payne
and
Ouuuch, Max Pain
for Max’es Kart, and likewise
Flashy Alan
and—
yeah, it’ll never happen, I know.
I can’t get Herald of Darkness out of my head
Tempted to just look up the differences. Don’t know when I’d replay the game. Maybe when the expansion stuff comes out? But if I could just jump directly into that stuff, I think I’d likely do that than play the whole game again.
Sam Lake really has the best mug in the business
