Max Payne / Alan Wake / Quantum Break / Control

By far the most effective weapon in American Nightmare is the single-shot crossbow that kills enemies in one hit without engaging the whole light-burning mechanic first, but it does sort of feel like boring cheating

alan wake 1 was my least favorite remedy game but the sequel being announced as “their first survival horror game” is extremely exciting to me. remedy is so good at creating these worlds that we all deep down secretly wish they’d make an adventure game, a format more conducive to exploring and living in the world etc, but they’re also the best at shooting games so we don’t want them to stop that either, so this sounds perfect. the only bad thing might be that sounds like more room for them to try to fit in crafting shit like they had in control

This could be cool depending how much they remake. Fucked up snowland NYC is a great setting and it’d be nice to see how much fidelity they could put into it this time around.

All those labor abuses and shark cards to build rockstar’s money pile were finally worth it

trying to find out through somebody who knows somebody who knows somebody who worked on Control anything about this, is it still going to have comic panels? max’s face: sam lake or deaged mccaffrey? the model guy in 2? any part of this arrangement involve allowing remedy to use the max character in their control shared universe shit? but turns out the person is on maternity leave. what the hell, maternity leave, like they work in finland or something.

I’ve hated basically every remake I’ve seen and max payne 2 and gta iv have always been two games that come to mind when I think “videogames never really need to bother looking better than this” (and everytime I think this I flashback to the time in highschool this pal of mine was excitedly describing how this new max payne 1 game was going to have shell casings and serial numbers on the guns and some other guy was like “okay I think that’s maybe too much detail” and I was like “you fucking idiot”) but I’m kind of excited to play through a “new” max payne 1 and 2.

ideally I wish we could get both a rockstar max payne 4 and a remedy max payne 3 continuing from max payne 2’s secret ending where mona lives. max payne 3 is, somehow, already ten years old this year next month so if they’re going to keep aging max in real time they need to get on it

my only real memory of either of those games was some level that was like walking the anor londo beams but ten times longer and in total darkness and someone was screaming the whole time i think. seems like it must have been a dream sequence. anyway excited to see what they do with that part in 2023

I am filled with dread. What are they gonna do? How are they gonna screw this up!? What’s the best possible outcome? WHY!?

If they can replicate the feeling of shootdodging through a doorway, killing a guy on one side with the first barrel of a sawed off, corkscrewing 180 degrees, killing a guy on the other side of the door with the second barrel of a sawed off, and landing on your back, I will buy it no matter what it looks like
