Mario SUCKS... or does it???

i played an entire 2 and a half stages of mario 3d land to finally catch up on the buzz, but there was no magic. there was barely anything. hollow fucking videogame these first two levels. do i care to find out where it goes? no.

I have hated every mainline Mario game since Sunshine except Odyssey. I do think I will enjoy Luigi’s Mansion whenever I finally play it, and it’s also hard to imagine Mario Kart ever being so bad I actively dislike it.

I really enjoy all the “mainline” Mario platformers to at least the extent where I’d say all of them are at a base line of good, but I’m also a Mario obsessive. I enjoy all the games as games, but I honestly think I might like Mario conceptually as like a mascot character more than I do as a games character. I’m basically always buying some sort of Mario themed bullshit primarily looking for odd vintage pieces.

A whole corner of what I refer to as my “special shelf” where I keep all the neatest gaming trinkets I have is dedicated to Mario stuff

i had fun with 3d world but i might attribute that to running the entire thing in co-op with a friend. that might’ve been roughly a decade ago now so i don’t remember the game well enough to feel any particular way about it

As much as I like the original base game of 3D world I honestly probably had way more fun playing Bowser’s Fury

I think Mario was pretty sauceless from after sunshine untill wonder. Ive played all of them to some extent, beat several but It took till Wonder to feel like I’m on an adventure.

I know I absolutely love the older Marios. And that one is a Mario head pencil sharpener and it is sitting on top of a Mario egg cup. You stick the pencil in his ear and the shavings come out the bottom

I actually feel slightly like a Mario fraud cause I haven’t beat Mario 2 or 3 and I only did 1 by taking all the warps

I think the important thing with Mario is that you have fun.

Beating 2 without saves is a magical feeling but its a real grind and the stress of being near the end is pretty intense.
I don’t think Ive beaten 3 without 2 player continues, save sates or 1up farming using a shell on some stairs. I don’t even know how to farm in 2.

The 3D aspect of 3D land and all 3DS games are lost on me cause I don’t have depth perception
