That Fortnight comic that Marvel put out actually got some new folks into comic shops. Whether or not they came back is another thing.
So hopefully this means more of that.
video game news! Capitalism is terrible!
Pretty sure that’s a dog.
that’s just the board out of a pocket right? haven’t third parties already made cores? besides spiritualized i mean
How did the Analogue Pocket actually turn out?
It’s clearly a buffalo with mule legs. : D
i was skeptical but got one late last year. the screen is the best LCD i’ve ever seen and the various filters are excellent at idealizing the look of the original hardware. it has cores for most things up to 16-bit systems. a ps1 core is probably out of the question
i haven’t bothered with the dock because i don’t have CRTs or a scaler box or misgivings with emulation on a PC – it’s a different niche than the mister. the screen and portable form factor make the package more than the fpga for me
I do like the idea of game/system preservation on very low power bedrock hardware.
fully agree – I am generally turned off by the FPGA ecosystem and the way it’s talked about and I think the pocket is a great product, it’s the only FPGA I own and I am very happy with it
its closest competition is probably refurbished and upgraded original hardware which is still at the mercy of the parts bin displays they can find to match the resolution and cottage industry parts. the blackberry bold wasn’t exactly renowned for its screen
the anbernic handhelds are about half the price and fine (?) but the pocket’s worth a look if you have carts or care about displays (whether from the ‘pixel counting integer scale’ or ‘spoiled by OLED’ end of things)
86 people at TFB but also 86 people from Sledgehammer.
does the pocket have no input lag?
