i have basically come to terms with / resigned myself to being incapable of making a critical evaluation of eva because it spoke to me and my experience of being a broken human so profoundly and directly on first watch that i have come to take most treatment of it as merely âdeconstructed collection of ultraman tropes + horny anime psychodrama etcâ a little personally
watched the 1984 film Birth with a friend today.
it sure was pretty to look at, and uh, yeah
same studio that did Leda: the Fantastic Adventure of Yohko, and Windaria!
If I were to rank them, itâd be Leda > Windaria > Birth but I find them all delightful
lol i love eva now the show only gets better as it goes on and the original ending is one side of the same trauma fucking coin as end of eva because NOTHING is complete in this show without depending on something else to hold it up! its thematic! here are my thoughts
- its hilarious how shinji literally takes twice as long to process as the women in the episode previous, toxic masculinity baby!
- HOLY SHIT OF COURSE ANIME FANS HATED THIS BECAUSE THEY TOO WANTED THE FIRST EPISODE OF SAILOR MOON WITH REI
- i love how TIRESOME shinjis processing gets, and the second i couldnât take it anymore asuka shows up to tell him and finally
YES IM SO GLAD I GOT TWO WHOLE EPISODES OF ACTUAL PROCESSING UNINTERRUPTED BY A FUCKING ANGEL INVASION! the whole show is over and over hammering it into you that no one gets a single second to think to themselves about what is going on and its always ALARMS AWOOOGA NO TIME FOR THERAPY
the show is good i will be taking no further questions and yes im going to watch the rebuild movies so there. hmph.
lol hell yeah I got daphny into evangelion, I rest my case
the worst thing of all time is that the most asuka thing i could do is think im completely above anything eva has to offer until my mid thirties
I think my main memory of watching Eva in high school was my sister seeming to personally blame me for the ending

wow la blue girl returns fucking SUCKS! maybe i wouldnât be as disappointed if i knew it was by the overfiend guy but all i could think of the whole time was man tentacle rape really fell off didnt it
i dunno overfiend has a lot of weird style stuff that sticks out, even the weird underwater scenes that are just dark blobs of censorship and muffled audio are better than like, nes sprite frame levels of tentacle movement. AH WELL. gonna see if the first LA BLUE GIRL is any less bullshit
the los angeles bluegirls
if i lived in socal id start a softball team called the LA Blue Girls
la blue girl returns is 75% thinking to yourself âhow long has it been since the last fucking rape?â, 15% awful ninja anime plot bullshit, and like 5% what you actually want to see because youâre traumatized. Japanese guys will sit through literally anything to see boobs. I didnât want to be the la blue girl even once. Pathetic.
I remember one day hanging with a group of friends and someone brought over a show for us all to watch together and it was La Blue Girl. On the rare occasion I am reminded of it I still wonder what his thought process was.
As a story, Birth is almost nothing. As a stunning work of animation, it is a triumph. And as a love letter to Kanada Yoshinoriâs wifeâs ass, itâs a rousing success.
Holy crap do not google anime birth.
Can anyone recommend Aggretsuko? Iâve been on the fence for ages.
The first season was deeply charming and relatable, didnât care so much for season 2. Itâs not essential viewing but I found it very fun and memorable.
it wasnât that bad
