I Think You Should Leave is art but that doesn’t absolve Netflix of anime crimes
On J-Amazon I can’t access english subtitles and frankly it is weird subtitles are not all access.

Started watching Kill la Kill. Really avoided it cause lord do I not like how much gratuitous ass Gainax shoves in front of the camera. Almost ruined 2.22 for me.
I’m about 4 eps in with the dub, and, actually, kind of love it. I think it benefits a lot about being clearly and unashamedly 'bout that ass, basing the entire concept and world around it. At least you know what you’re going into.
Characters are great, world is delightful, animation is really fun, fights are awesome. It’s definitely a joyous show for being about something so weird.
As others have said, it’s like the quintessential “show I wouldn’t want anyone I know to find out I’ve watched” anime.

I cannot deal with Kill La Kill’s trash designs and 9-year-old-child-after-5-cotton-candies action. But I love all the smarts that went in to the animation gags and metaphors.
Its one of those 5/10s where both ends are so weighted its cracked in the middle.
I can’t not / cannot recommend it.

Someone found 2:30 minutes of footage from the cancelled Phantom Blood film and is putting it online sometime this month
i don’t get why any of you want to watch a show that you’re ashamed to admit you like or share with other people, and i especially don’t get why that’s such a selling point.
People enjoy things that are in bad taste or taboo all the time like isn’t that the whole deal with sex
I mean yeah for a comparison ain’t like I am clicking share on twitter when looking at pornography.

art can be problematic and still have value to me?
plus like i like to tell folks straight up what they’re in for if i recommend something like kill la kill or devilman crybaby so they can skip it if they know it won’t be their thing

Sure, i know, i can appreciate problematic art. Im just questioning why that’s everyones refrain with the show despite also liking it.
it really put me off to have asses shoved in my face because when that wasn’t happening, it was a fun animated cartoon. I guess i just wasn’t sold enough on why the asses were good and justified. i think i agree i would not like to share kill la kill with someone or admit i liked it and thats bad, to me
