also always really liked the pokemon font
i have noticed you play lots of games with good fonts and i respect that immensely, villain. i can’t fucking stand all these mobile ports of old JRPGs that use Arial or whatever. A key part of the 16 bit experience is the chunky ass fonts. The Chrono Trigger font is really good. I also like the simplicity of the DQ5 DS font a lot

Best: Final fantasy Tactics
Worst: Wild arms
Edit: wait no the real worst is the Quintet font. Every letter gets the same amount of space: too much
Man, put those Terranigma dialogue boxes and font in a Matsuno game and you get such an immensely less cool game
let us cling together!
hiroshi minagawa games always had nice english fonts, a detail i always appreciated
yeah ffxii is absolutely on fire
Yeah, the FFT font is rad. The Wild ARMs font drove me up the fucking wall!
I remember whining about the SMT2 fan-translation’s font because I thought it resembled the Terranigma font too much (I want to say I was told by somebody involved that they just lifted the Revelations: Persona font and cleaned and chunked it up a bit).
Persona 2’s font is pretty good.
Why would you do this? Aside from a casual desire to watch the world burn.
the quintet font would be excellent if it wasn’t fixed width tho
I feel like the generic (though relatively pleasant, I guess) sans serif oblique font used in the remake is the worst thing about it. not there’s anything wrong with it, I just miss this font so much when playing it.
does anyone know what font FFIII’s US typeface is based off of?

The first font I ever made was just a .fon of the SMT1 fan translation font, but I never released it, because fuck everybody!
FFVII’s font wasn’t bad, either. Nice, uniform, and clean.
Lot of different fonts going on here, and yet it works.
I would have never guessed even in 1999, a game would look good with gray boxes. But, there it is, FFVIII.
the gray gradient windows were cool, but it sucked that you could never change them!
I used the Quintet font once after cleaning up that goofy ‘R’ and fixing the kerning; it’s not exactly pretty but it means a lot to me.
how i’d (quickly) modify it. and also get rid of the fixed width shit.
(Zs should have a line through them! that’s how i write them!)
