There’s definitely one scene with dick!!!
I played 3 more hours and found all the scenes. Some revelations were had!
Is there like a secret last last clip revealed if I do that achievement to see all the subverted clips?
yeah!! the day before we picked up the game, my partner and i were talking in the car about horniness in media and trying to figure out examples of it being done in a way that doesn’t feel gratuitous or just like… cringey. then we played immortality and very easily put it into the horny media that doesn’t feel bad category
Interview with the sound designers:
I noticed the different video styles more than the sound, but it’s still interesting to hear how they approached the audio.
The sound stuff is fascinating in that I didn’t notice it at all, and was deeply impressed by how “real” the film felt, especially the earlier stuff. I’m now realizing how much of a part the sound design played in making it feel “real”.
It’s easy to slap a filter on the video and sound and say “there, it’s old now” but this is several magnitudes more effort and the results are phenomenal.
Screen slate interviewed barlow
I read The Monk on your recommendation (just finished it on a plane flight) and you were right. It’s great.
haven’t finished the game but I loved this part. The Ecological Approach to Visual Perception (Gibson, 1979) meets Hey QT (QT, 2014)
Got to credits and I’m curious to dig deeper. The game sticks in my head which is a good sign. I wanna know what’s going on with the immortals and their whole deal, feel like I missed what exactly has been going on. But really like learning about each film too. I feel a bit foolish for watching every single scene in full but that’s the kinda brain I am. Is it worth getting every scene? Still unsure on some plot points but my favourite scene is easily:
oh i did this too, it’s worth it to get really immersed imo
I finished this and watched every clip but did anyone else have a situation where you match cut and it send you to a completely blank screen? (this happened at least thrice). You can still scrub forward/back and even go into image mode but nothing’s there? I assume it’s a glitch but given everything else in the game I’m not sure (had to tab out of the xbox which felt like cheating)
Oh also, I love pressing ‘i’, gave me such a sense of comfort to be able to just stop and reset everything when I wanted to. Not many games give you a kinda of ‘resolve’ or ‘unwind’ feature outside of simply pausing. I found I would press it just for its own sake.
it’s great how much of this is just fetching all of the clips that they’re mentioning and interviews with the actors describing how they would go on to nail it
i wish so dearly i could forget the game to play it again but i haven’t stopped thinking about it since
it’s interesting that they describe it as an “interactive film videogame” like it’s night trap. it’s a haunted database, and the only kind of game that excites me creatively
was just about to post this, am currently 34 minutes in, it rules
ahh! i thought someone had posted it but i couldn’t remember where. thanks for quoting yourself
they shot this on blackmagic pocket cinemas, my god. what a triumph for post-processing
natalie watson going from vice to this is almost certainly the best media-to-industry career move ever
I need to go back and get all the clips, might be my fav game I’ve played this year that didn’t release this year.
i still need to find more irl films that have the two of everything vibe
