Not sure, but someone apparently had access to his unreleased music and his Bandcamp account because they released this album of rarities:

Additionally, a bunch of other witch house producers made this tribute album. Any money spent on that one goes to a fund for bats:

(I’m not specifically recommending the songs in these previews. See my previous posts in this thread for what I think are some of the best Lovedied songs.)

Something pretty similar happened to me with another artist in Bandcamp and I do wonder how they handle an artist passing. I guess they leave it up to their estate?

Now this is a musical style I’ve never heard turned into witch house before today.

Another song I like by the same artist, released last month:

I’ve kind of been obsessed with that sock hop witch house song for the past week. One thing I like about the witch house genre is that it can be an interesting puzzle identifying the original songs, and it can be fun to hear the source songs after I’ve listened to the witch house version many times. The original sometimes sounds “wrong” but of course it’s the other way around.

In this case, the lyrics were clear enough that it was easy to track down the original. I think I’ve seen The Shangri-Las’ records at thrift stores before but I’ve never heard them as far as I know. I guess they were very popular in the 1960s.

I also came across this parody/tribute song/video by Twisted Sister, another band I’m not really familiar with aside from that brief scene in Pee-wee’s Big Adventure.

Edit: I’ve been listening to songs by the Shangri-Las all day. Their lyrics are mostly about death.

Edit 2: While I’m at it, here’s another track from that witch house album that’s basically just a Kate Bush remix but I like it.

Another case of a witch house track introducing me to a new musical act. This time it’s Ladyhawke from New Zealand.

The witch house song:

The real song:

(This is another one that’s basically just a remix and not drastically altered.)
