Every raid is level 750 (the base level) except for Garden of Salvation so you won’t even have much catching up. You could totally pull a Midnight Coup and Whisper out of your vault and get right in.

My PC almost runs this OK, but man I don’t want to figure out how much I need to spend to get caught up on expansions there lol.
I’d do raids with you lot if timezones and jobs weren’t a thing
If you have weekends off, we can totally raid then. I’m usually around all weekend.
Money wise, expansion gate strikes and raids. I believe core activities like forges and Menagerie are open to all.
Time wise, with New Light (Shadowkeep), they made it so you don’t have to do the expansion content in order anymore. Or story content at all. You can just faff about and invest in whatever interests you and progress. No more levels, or skill points, or whatever; just gear score.
They are also overhauling quest categorization in the patch this Tuesday, which will make it much easier to see what quests you should be doing (for example, it puts tutorial quests in their own category, so you know what you need to do to familiarize yourself with the basics).
That said, if you DO decide you want to play, and you are feeling overwhelmed, I play Destiny 2 far too much and can help guide. I like to

I mean, I played all the way through Year 1 of D2 on the PS4, but on PC, I own nothing other than base and I don’t know if I can be bothered to buy much other than that.
My brother and partner play every week and one/both would be happy to round out a raid team.

I’d say set up cross save and give it a shot (Y1 is free now), and if you enjoy it then consider getting expansions.
Oh yeah, cross save is already taken care of, thankfully. That wasn’t too difficult.

lmao the update to emblems - where you can swap trackers around - came with a TOTAL STATS RESET. all those old trackers? completely gone. got flawless trials runs in Y1, or even fractaline donated for last season? fuck you
