This was the hurdle I couldn’t get over. It knows to shy away from the source, but it lives within it. I can’t hear these characters’ voices in a nasally American twang which the writing induces in me

i finished hollow knight (none of the true ending stuff).
i guess this game is really good, but it did very little for me. exactly sum of its parts.
everything in the last third - collecting the masks - was super boring other than the five hamsters boss.

Decided to stop playing Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and fired up Yakuza 3 instead. Weird how both games are a lot of you doing the same thing for hours on end, but Yakuza is more enjoyable. Huh.
The old “time to do some crimes” comic is as applicable here as ever. Two friends in the hospital and revenge is a-cookin’, and instead I’m looking for a particular shisa statue and walking two ice cream cones precariously down a busy street.
Also played a fair amount of Street Fighter V, probably for the first time since the story mode dropped back when. That Champion Edition update, uh, really does unlock just about everything. Having more stages is definitely nice. Anyway, it feels more like a full game now than it did at launch, so I dunno, maybe I’ll put some more time into it.
That said my copy of that new UNIST game just showed up, so!!

played an hour of the langrisser 2 remake demo
it’s one of those things that looks a lot better in motion i guess? in the demo you can pick the old art and the megadrive ost (though you get md, pce cd for langrisser 1, pcfx for 2 and ps1 soundtrack selection in the full game) but new, bad art will still show for some characters
the game itself doesn’t seem to be much different? you have a couple of skill slots you can customise which may lead to ~builds~ but otherwise the class system is the same, difficulty seems comparable to snes der langrisser not the megadrive l2
units have inflated numbers for health and attack taken straight off the mobage i guess
haven’t played any of 1 yet, there are a couple of maps from each in this demo, but i believe that’s the more substantial of the two here with new characters/branching paths

i played the alex kidd game on my ps4s sega collection and i cant get over how ugly the character sprite is. its like baby spock in pajama onsies and like, i think thats the point but hes just too ugly. i quit and played wonderboy instead hes way cuter

my 3 month trial of xbgppc expires on March 2nd and I have played my fill that I think my 4 year old laptop can handle. I forced myself through Bloodstained even though it felt off the entire time. Subnautica inexplicably switches the triggers on my xbone controller and had a lot of pop in. Death’s Gambit felt sluggish exactly like Bloodstained and could not have been more blatant a Demons Souls Fan Game.
But like the service also has Timespinner, The Messenger, Shenmue, Snake Pass, Ape Out, Frozions 4 etc etc. I got a huge amount of video game trial for my one dollar.
Gonna spend a some time with Blazing Chrome (last year’s good Contra game???) and Children of Morta (which I am surprised more of us haven’t played.)

I had a dream that I interpreted to mean I should play Dagger of Amon Ra but I wanted to play it with crt shaders but I can’t get midi music to work in dosbox under retroarch
Been playing Halo MCC and just finished up reach. I think I appreciate it more and ODST and 3 more as time goes on.
