the spells are the worst. you can modify them and stuff if you get certain modifiers, which is nice, but you sometimes just have no idea what they’re going to do and interact with others even with the description and most of them harm you in some way and some straight up kill you if you cast them. there will be wands i’ll get that’ll end up completely unreliable. i’ve taken to just looking them up in the wiki just because i’m so tired of dying to something that i just want to check out
after taking like a 5 month break, i’m back to playing Final Fantasy XIII in an effort to finish the game so i can get one step closer to finally playing Lightning Returns, which is supposedly everyone’s favorite.
anyway, i think i’ve unironically come to the extremely-belated conclusion that FFXIII is maybe one of the best games that’s ever been made.
Will you be taking questions at this time?
yes, i realize a statement like the above requires some qualification
however, i’m also thinking maybe this is what i’ll write about in TGQ lmao
lightning returns is good
i mean
Sega dubbed the concerts, which everyone was at because buffs
then the lobby erupted into a dubs vs subs debate
it’s like I’m back in 2000 and people are just shooting the shit in a ship’s lobby before they go off to The Grind
I missed you so much PSO
The soundtrack is unbelievable top to bottom!
lightning returns rules
fuck i forgot about the concert
i played this for a couple hours yesterday and the only feeling i’m left with is that i’m real fuckin close to digging my wii out and seeing if i can still get online on pso1
I’m p sure the consensus is if you’re married to old PSO you might as well go download Blue Burst since you’d be connecting to the same couple of private servers anyway
it’s okay, let go of your old characters
i mean, re: your criticism of Dark Souls in the metacritic thread, i sincerely think of Dark Souls 2 as the one that feels the most like a direct sequel to Kong’s Field IV. Give it a shot if you ever get the chance, it rules. and it’s the one that all true git gud dark souls fans hate and think of as the worst in series, if that sweetens the pot
Kong’s Field
oh my god autocorrect
i picked up a copy of the game (and XIII-2) off eBay for pretty cheap this week. i also saw they were selling copies of the special edition, which apparently included a Cloud Strife outfit. i almost went for it, but realized that there is probably no way to redeem that costume anymore.
the rareware project we may not need, but certainly deserve
in what sense of redeem
Yes, yes, come to the Dark Side.
Every time I play any iteration of Smash Bros with a room full of people it is a blast, it’s a shame the opportunity only arises in my life at most once or twice a year. Although maybe if it were a more frequent occurrence some of the magic would be lost.
(fake edit: holy fuck I had to type “occurrence” about 5 times before I stumbled upon the right combination of letters).
chonked my way through The Lost Bastille in Dark Souls 2 with my overpowered weapon and armor set (thanks again kind invader). it’s still tough to manage groups of enemies but one at a time they generally go down in one or two hits. it makes the game feel a little less desperate and frustrating, and more about navigating the level design, which is FINE BY ME. the Pursuers are still scary though!
the environments in this one give me serious Vagrant Story vibes (particularly the Town and the Underworld), which is cool as I’ve always thought of VS as a proto Souls game.
what helped me get better at the Souls games as they increased enemy density was to bob in towards mobs and let them go “ah-HA! ORAORAORA” and punch away at the air or do whatever shit in their attack animation all at once, together, and then just step towards the nearest dude and R1, R1, slap him twice in the face and roll away until there’s only 2-4 dudes left and i can start getting fancy and using group attacks
Linking this to my previous post ITT it was not dissimilar to baiting out 2 headeaters in King’s Field and then whapping 1 in the face with a club. Fromsoft games don’t change, they evolve
how is the community in the western beta of pso2? on the jpn servers the only english speaking folks i really ran into were 4channers cuz they were the only ones willing to go through the process of installing it ig
