Painted up one of the 3d printed little weirdos someone was selling at a gaming convention. First one I’ve done in a while!
My Local Hobby Shop had a “Video Game” Theme build contest so I decided to build an anime girl version of Hornet Silksong inspired by other fan art dressing other characters as hornet like Samus and other Vtubers. Made out of just a 30Minute Sisters swimsuit body and black arms/legs with Tiasha’s head with a long hair option. Primed and top coated the body and arms for a solid color. Made the Nail using a square bar part from an evergreen polystyrene ran on a belt sander till shaped. The mask was made using playdoh to mold the shape then covering it with a 3D pen plastic form and smoothed with a soldering iron and sanded. I crocheted the cloak myself. Kinda just winged it and went row by row on a test body. I got runner up in the advanced category.
Right now I’m trying to make a posable thread to do some other poses before I take some more pictures.
Because I apparently have never met a discounted used paper cutter I didn’t like these bad boys were on clearance day at goodwill and for $10 I got uhh two lol
This lightweight one that cuts thinner paper ok and can make fold lines, took it apart and gave it a little wash and it was like new again
But I also took a gamble on this German metal beast ![]()
It was in a little bit worse shape - dirty and rusty - but it is very very study, it is almost entirely solid metal. Nothing a little soap and water and gunpla primer couldn’t fix!!
It’s a rotary cutter, its design puts a ton of pressure on the paper at the spot where its doing the cutting against the sharp straight edge of the base which makes it very stable and precise and more like scissors than a knife. This also allows the blade geometry on the cutter to be much more on the sturdy side so it stays sharp much longer. I’m pretty happy with it!
That giant guillotine one I got in whatever other thread is dull as shit, oops
it’s still nice here but it’s getting cooler, so i panic spraypainted my ng braw-bro, this fucked up “BEMZN” monster kit, and (a thing i will hate to build) a hguc WOUNDWORT BABEYYYYYY
the braw-bro fitment is terrible so i have to make up some 50/50 bondo and model cement to flow into the seams etc and then sand it down. i would say that i hate building kits like this but it’s a lie. i love it. i just feel weird sharing pictures of this stuff when other people are like “i totally built and finished and panel lined this!!” and im like “well..its been a month… and the bondo is in different parts now… but its gonna look so good… one day…”
Putty or panel lines we love sicko shit of all kinds, you know this!!
just post your shit, it’s so awesome
I bought one of those 30 minute fantasy knight models. I take it I can get away with not painting and markering and whatnot right?
yes you can just snap that shit together
Of course you can!
You can always go back and do more to it later if you want and building the kit first gives you an idea of what you might want to change or embellish
Cool! Painting was always the thing that kept me from making model kits
my neighbors were whittling whales and crocheting so I brought over gunpla and hung out
joined the sega saturn builders club
Consolidated most of my guys into a tub for the moment, still miles to go and all that but incredible to see how far I’ve come so far, really feeling it all come together bit by bit~
what’s the goal?
Build all of my Tau faction warhammer guys, paint them, and then actually play the godsamn game. When I’m done with that, I want to move on to assembling all the other random warhammer boxes I got laying around entirely.
This all seems really plausible but I gotta still run the marathon!
this EG Strike Rouge was half off so it was a lot of fun for 10 bucks
i finally have a non zeon model on my desk lol
Two more steps on my road to a finished tau army, I actually primed some figures to start planning my approach to painting! Really excited about my progress here.
