hell yeah look at them arms
I saw on the bird app that Target sells these lil $3 sweater ornaments which can be used as such and I knew what my gunpla ally duty was:
oh yeah I saw that thread too I hope they’re not sold out by the time I actually remember to get one
I built a Standard Dude
I got him to practice on and mostly focused on nipping technique, nub removal, and panel lining. Think I did a good job except that I discovered that pour type liners will seep into otherwise invisible stress cracks and become impossible to remove. Unfortunately I found that out on the front skirt and shield emblem so it couldn’t really be in a more visible place. Ah well!
soaking in gundam marker remover or rubbing alcohol didn’t help with the stress cracks?
Didn’t try soaking the whole piece but neither the remover nor alcohol seemed to touch what seeped in
Overnight in 70% alcohol did work, though I broke the shield emblem in half in the process
Oh well, time to learn about gluing polystyrene
keep the runners and test glues with them
plastic cement is the best, but if you don’t have it, you might be able to make due with (VERY) dilute acetone
I have some Mr. Cement I imagine will work just fine
dissolving runners in glue to make more plastic to fuck up has been my favorite thing this month
also clear coat works AMAZING as glue
Yeah that’s what I got it for originally! Shoulda tried that out to remove seams on the above guy but I didn’t want to kill my family staying here with fumes
Maybe I should just get another cheap guy… I was thinking a Leo but I don’t see many seams!
inner thigh!! inner thigh!!! oo and on the side of the forearm
jack in the discord goes NUTS with sanding away seams. he does full on airbrush painting too but now whenever i see a seam im like ‘what would jack do about this’ and then do about 100x less
whoa what do you mean im curious about this
easy is a lie. well, I mean
okay, it’s not super hard, I just fucking hate sanding. I like it for a bit but I don’t have near enough patience to work through as many grits as I should be. that’s what I mean by doing 100x less
woag
very useful!
but I will only do it in summer, I can imagine the smell of glue when he open the bottle
The basic technique with liquid panel liners is to tap the brush at the root of the panel line and let gravity do the work. Tap more for until it makes it all the way down. Then just wipe with a paper towel. If any builds up outside of the line you can use an a rubber eraser to rub it out.
the entry grade rx 78 is so good, a miracle…
