decided to look up what the whole ai agression thing is, and it seems to just be the same rank stuff yagawa’s shmups would get characterized by later? just like battle garegga, you shooting your weapons ups the difficulty. at the very least this means maybe dont fire your weapons at an empty screen.
One of the oddest quirks is how collecting the shield bumps up the ai aggression dramatically. You can see a huge difference in the types of enemies just in the beginning by choosing to collect or abandon the line of #2 powerups.
oh yeah, noticed that. i read that shooting the subweapon increases difficulty faster, so i’m curious if that’s dynamically caused by that since the shield is constantly active, or if it’s more like a flat value applied while having it
I did it! Ironically, I got this score mostly without playing on bonus boards. Every time I got to a bonus board, I would immediately fall back into the main area.
