one of the coolest things is the transparency on items in this game? like that knitted purple top i keep posting? it goes over everything seamlessly, you can see through all the little holes in it
theres a pair of jeans with a hole in the knee and you can see what socks youre wearing through the little knee hole. there are tons of details like that which just make swapping clothes around in the closet menu super fucking engaging. i can spend hours just mixing and matching shit

Being cute is fun.
I’m surprised at how chill and enjoyable it is despite the gacha. Zenless Zone Zero felt like market research laser-targeting me for a gacha game but I feel like this has more staying power. Nikki doesnt restrict the core appeal, you can look cute constantly and the game lets you just do stuff. ZZZ railroads you and withholds the core combat like it doesn’t trust you. You don’t get to look cool and do cool shit enough. In Nikki not only are you adorable, all contextual actions make you different types of adorable in an open environment and structure and you can just enjoy being there.
The main gripe I have is the complexity of menus. It’s like I’m having to remember how combo routing works to access certain features.
I’m still very early but the game has bug-catching which always suckers me. There’s a really cool premium bug outfit I want but seems like I’d need to pay up.

Was discussing this game yesterday and what really sets it apart from other service games is how the gacha is mainly in service of self expression while most of these games seem to revolve around collecting and worshipping, like, human beings (even if they are animes…they are still people. That is my brave belief…) A game that might teach people how to match their socks with the rest of their outfit is way cooler than a game where you just collect big fat cartoon asses. Not that butts aren’t cool or anything. It’s just that…I’m going to stop writing now. I’m going to stop writing.

yeah I was talking about this too, genshin puts attacks and equipment for battle behind pulls this is just clothes. sure they make fashion battles easier but so does levelling up your outfits that you get in game!! you get an entire ass breath of the wild game for free
speaking of free 1.1 is out today and there’s new side story, a fishing event, a new miracle outfit (unlocked on the sphere grid again? I hope), new extreme curio domains and a free outfit too

and yes new banners to pull on but LOOK AT HOW MUCH THEY JUST GIVE YOU. you can just play the main story like a single player game and never think about money
also taking pictures is incredibly rewarding. I’ve been uploading snapshots all over and upvoting every snapshot i see and often doing the thing where I pose with a person and upload that. the photo mode is perfect. SNAP A PHOTO SO WE CAN WATCH ADVENTURES RE~WIND just like Jessie j says

I like how you can play a minigame to pass time (or just turn off the minigame and pass time whenever you want) but I really want Nikki to smoke a cigarette to pass time
