my 8 is serving me largely fine except that i somehow crunched the back plate in my pocket the other month and it needs a new battery anyway, so i’m thinking i’ll buy my mate’s 11 pro for what seems to be about half current market value. cheaper than a back plate replacement anyway, and just getting a new battery would be a sizeable fraction of the price

I hope they bring the removable back for repair purposes to the 15 Pro from the 14, and I hope it gets USB-C, and I also hope the 15 Pro gets the true optical zoom that’s currently rumored for the 15 Pro Max only, because I would much rather get a regular-sized phone, but they probably don’t want to have one goldilocks model like that

I caved on the 14 pro because replacing my 8’s battery costs as much as it’s worth and I badly want a new camera but if they switch to C next year I’m hoping I can sell the 14 and not take too much of a bath
Or just keep it, it’s not like I don’t already have lightning cables where I need them
I feel like there’s a 25% chance they’ll just go all-wireless anyway

yeah, I mean, I have no idea what the market is gonna do over the next year. I’m happy with the 4080 as a product, right now it’s obviously priced relative to the existing 3xxx inventory, if it gets cheaper within the next 12 months thanks to RDNA2/etc., then that’s just as well because I don’t need one right away

I don’t really need to upgrade from my Pixel 4a, but I’d be lying if I told you I didn’t want to. Especially since the 6a is pretty deeply discounted these days. Wouldn’t mind getting some 5g and wireless charging capabilities.

Can’t you do it in-browser with Brave or something? That works for me, but I don’t watch a ton so I may not appreciate all the downsides.
what does the openable back on the iphone 14 actually mean, in practice? like it’s easier for shops to repair, I’m sure, but does that mean it would be cheaper? or do the shops just appreciate the uptick in business so they don’t go broke? can you like, replace your own battery? because really the only reason whatsoever to replace a decent phone these days other than you breaking it is if the battery goes or software support ends in a way that makes a material difference
