my sister asked me for laptop buying advice and after she told me her use case (Word), I texted her back the exact statement ālmao buy a macā twice and I think she thinks Iām trying to gaslight her into the Apple ecosystem and I may have accidentally sold her on the idea of spending 200 bucks on a Chromebook instead
I promise you I only have her best interests in mind, which is ācomputer that works and doesnāt fall apart in a year and also we live by a major US metropolitan area so there are multiple Apple stores within an hour of her houseā

@Felix you were having problems hooking up multiple high refresh rate monitors in windows, right? my friend has 4k240hz and 1440p540hz screens hooked up to a 5090 ā more fuckin money than sense, mike! ā and things are not cooperating. he had āem both on display port and I was like youāre probably frying your bandwidth buddy but he canāt get anything to work splitting between DP and HDMI either, and now I guess neither monitor is working no matter what he set the refresh rates to? and his computer is crashing?
windows issue? nvidia issue? ā¦DSC issue? power issue? cable issue? skill issue? I told him to try linux, fuck if I know
540hz is completely outside of my expertise but yes things get very edge case-y when pushing your total display port bandwidth across multiple displays in ways that often feels less supported than the marketing would like to suggest
I would not be surprised if trying to run Wayland at 540hz like pegs a CPU core or something, that doesnāt seem better

Luckily I donāt like playing new games after 2018. Sometimes I even want a software that automatically prints out new posts every day, so I can speak my replies to a few of them and then it automatically posts my text responses. Wonder whether windows 11 can do that.
